Girls’s Retreat

I went with two of my friends up to our cabin, for a couple of days and it was so fun to just relax and enjoy fun friendships, go shopping, crafting, and of course eating!  We got there in the evening and we each had brought a project to work on, but we were having too much fun just talking and laughing to do them!

But I found these fun little scrapbook kits at a garage sale last weekend, so I busted them out and we started working on them while we continued to visit.

They were these cute little mini books.  I am going to make the circle one into a counting book for the grand kids.  They had all the paper and embellishments in the kits and they were less than 50 cents each, you can’t beat that!We stayed up till the wee hours of the night just gabbing, I think that we solved all the world problems and then some!  The next morning after sleeping in a bit we had breakfast and headed out to Park City for some serious shopping and lunch!  We went to World Market and shopped our little hearts out, we hit TJ MAXX and then went to Kneaders for lunch.  We then headed on over to the outlet mall and did our damage there.  Why is it always so much fun to shop with girlfriends??  My friend, Sue, introduced us to these Hawaiian Sweet Maui Onion Rings Chips and … Oh My… are they ever good!  She opened up a bag of them while we were in the parking lot and we all turned around, went back into the store to buy some to take home! (In fact I just went to get the bag to look at the name and broke them open, they are that good!)  She said that they only place that she has found them is at World Market, but I will be on the hunt to find them in other places now! After a long day of shopping we just came back and relaxed in the hammock and on the deck.  It was so nice and cool here in the mountains while down in the city it was sweltering with over 100 degree F weather!Look at those fluffy white clouds and that blue sky!The next morning when we got up there were some visitors to see us!Aren’t they so cute?  They are a little skinny however and need to fatten up!  We had these two deer, a mamma and her fawn and we also had a small buck come along to see us. We enjoyed watching a couple of cute chipmunks and squirrels chase each other and  there were also some darling little birds taking a fun bath in the sprinkler!  So we really got to enjoy some of the critters that live close by us!After breakfast, we packed everything up to head into Salt Lake City to spend the rest of the day.  We first went to “Taffy Town”  It is a fun little place where they make all kinds of taffy.  You can pick your flavors, like buttered popcorn, cinnamon roll, banana cream pie, etc.  They also have some really sour ones that I got for the kids!  They give tours here to show how they make the taffy and I am thinking it would be a fun outing to do sometime with the grandkids,  What kid would not want to go to a candy store?
We then headed to “Standard Restauarant Supply” I have never been there before and we just browsed around for over an hour at all the fun kitchen gadgets, dishes, pans, containers and whatnots, it was great!  We then went on over to one of my favorites places as you all know, “Gygi’s!”  I had to stock up on my Peters’ Caramel and some more milk chocolate apeels.  After doing all of our shopping we went to “Super Grinder’s” for a sandwich, this place has been here for a long time and it is kind of a dive, but they have the best sandwiches because they use a pepper sauce on all of them and they are really  good!  If you are ever around the 45th South area in Salt Lake, you should seriously try them out!  They are just off the freeway on the east side.

So I have to thank my friends, Sue and Sharee, for such a fun Girls’ retreat!  We decided that we need to make it a regular tradition and I couldn’t agree more!  It just recharges your batteries to be able to just relax and have fun with great friends, don’t you agree?  Do any of you get to go an a fun retreat this summer, I sure hope so!
