Garage Sale Nightstand Make-Over

My daughter and I went garage sale-ing at the first of the summer and she picked up a nightstand for her daughters bedroom.  She did not take “before” pictures, so that means that I have not trained her very well yet! :)

But this is the after!  So cute for a little girl! The nightstand was a brown wood color and the drawer pull was brass.  She sanded the nightstand and roughed it up a bit, then she used a spray primer to prime the whole nightstand.  She painted it with Behr Interior Satin Enamel Paint in the color: Frost Glade.  She then spray painted the drawer pull and the base of the lamp with a silver metallic color. For the ruffled lamp shade, she used 2 inch strips of fabric that she had leftover from her daughter’s bedspread, she ran a running stitch with her sewing machine down the middle of the strips and gathered to fit around the circumference of the lamp shade.  She then simply hot glued the strips directly to the lamp shade and Ta Da, look at what a cute transformation it made!

  1. Hi Rita! Another great little project! I can picture what it looked like before, and your daughter did a wonderful job. I imagine it makes you very proud to see her creativity come to life. My daughter wouldn’t know a paintbrush from a spatula lol!
