Here in Utah it is a holiday weekend…it is Pioneer Days, our state holiday! Celebrating when the pioneers first arrived in the Salt Lake Valley. We had our Pioneer Days Celebration by spending a couple of days at our cabin and then up at our hunting property! We have added a pavilion on the property with a fire pit, so of course we had to roast hot dogs and make smores! Continue reading

I am a very lucky girl because I have the best dad in the world! He is kind and never says anything bad about anyone! He has been a wonderful example to me. He is a very hard worker…he was a brick mason for his profession…and he taught me the value of work.
(I took this picture a few years ago for a photography class that I was taking and it is one of my favorites!)
He thinks of others and he has a soft heart. He still grows a garden and shares with everyone, he lives on his own and does his own cooking, cleaning, laundry and yard work! He is amazing! He will be celebrating his 90th birthday this week and I think that is quite an accomplishment!
I am double lucky because my kids also have the best dad! I am married to my best friend… he also is a very hard worker, he is very driven and he thinks of others! He has been the kids #1 fan and supporter in all their sports, scouting and school. He loves his children and grandchildren and would defend them in any situation that needed defending! He is a great example and leader and we all love him!
I know that some of you do not have ideal situations with your fathers or husbands and that Father’s day is a difficult day…I hope that you can find joy and happiness in a friend, uncle or brother and celebrate the good men in your lives!
I hope we can all give the good men in our lives a big hug today and wish them a very Happy Father’s Day!
I thought that today I would do a round-up of some of my 4th of July ideas! This holiday is coming up quickly, so I figured it wouldn’t hurt to give you some ideas! I love this holiday…I love most things Americana, so I just love all the decorations, banners, fireworks, parties and parades! With that introduction here is a round-up of a few of my favorite 4th of July things!
I hope that you are all having a great day and have had a great weekend. I went to one of my favorite places…Swiss Days, in Midway, Utah over the weekend. It is one of the only times that I will fight the crowds and go to a boutique! This year I really did not find a lot of goodies and I only stayed for about an hour and a half…which is not normal, but I just have a lot going on right now and I guess my heart was not really into it. I did find this cute bucket with the metal art in it. I love the dragonfly on the handle and there is actually the word, “welcome”, cut out of iron on the handle too, but the flowers cover that up. I couldn’t wait to put some fall mums in it and put it out on my front porch along with the fall decor when I put that out. I found some fun new jewelry at Swiss days and that was about the extent of my shopping!
After that my husband and I went on up to our property. We had to move two ATV’s down into the town so they could have a tune-up and get them ready for the upcoming hunting season. We had to make two separate trips because our trailer would only hold one at a time. But we got that done and then we went over to our cabin. My husband helped me and we cleaned the whole entire cabin from top to bottom. It just needed a good fall cleaning. It was so good to get that done…so that was my LABOR day weekend!
I have another busy week ahead…with a RS activity during the middle of the week and my Girl’s Retreat at the end of the week. It is going to be busy, but also fun!
I hope that you had a great Labor Day Weekend and that you got to spend a little bit of the time with those you love…doing something you love!
I am still tending kids, but we have had a great time going to the Aquarium, the Museum of Curiosity, up to the cabin and swimming! I am not doing a 4th of July Party, but I am planning on doing one on the 24th of July (Utah’s State B-day)
It has been one year ago, since my accident when I cut my arm and had my first ambulance trip. I am happy to report that everything is doing well and working pretty good. I still have some numbness in my arm, but the doctor told me that is normal and it could take up to two years to fully get all of feeling back. I am just so grateful that I can still do all of the things that I love to do and I am a very lucky girl!
I wish you all a very Happy 4th of July. I am so thankful for the freedoms that we enjoy and the blessings of living in this free land. Thanks to all those who serve, and to their families, that keep it that way! We so appreciate you!
Here is a fun idea to make
for your 4th of July party or really…for any summer party!
I would like to thank all those men and women..and their families… that have served our country in all of our behalf! Some have given the ultimate sacrifice so that all of us can enjoy our freedom! Freedom is not free, but I am so grateful for all of those brave service men and women who have willingly protected our freedom.
I am thrilled to see that our country is finally recognizing all those Vets that have served in the earlier wars with the “Honor Flights” and to truly give them the honor that they have so rightfully earned!
Hope you all have a great weekend and that you can remember and honor all those “Hero’s in your life!
