Sock Monkey Strip Quilt

I made a Sock Monkey Strip Quilt and I think that it turned out pretty cute!  I bought this quilt kit a couple of years ago and I am just now getting it put together.  I only paid $25 dollars for the kit, at a yard sale and it included everything but the back fabric, which I got on sale for $10 at JoAnn’s, so this was a killer deal of a quilt!sock monkey strip quilt Continue reading

Sour Cream Lemon Pie with Pecan Crust

My husband and I used to go to Marie Calendar’s when there was one near our home and I would ALWAYS order a slice of sour cream lemon pie for dessert.  But since there are not any MC restaurants nearby anymore…I decided that I would try to make a  copy of that pie that I loved so much!sour cream lemon pie with pecan crust Continue reading

My Lemon Pie Flop

Last Sunday, for Easter, I decided that I would make a Lemon Meringue Pie for dessert.  It was only my husband and I because we had had the whole family the week before.  I am trying to be good with what I eat and I only try to have sugar one day a week.   I made the whole thing from scratch and my mouth was watering, this was going to be a real treat for us!

But this is how it turned out!:lemon pie flop Continue reading

Cinnamon Chip Oatmeal Cookies

I went shopping the other day at a little specialty grocery store called, Meiers Meats & Fine Foods, in Highland, Utah.  They always have such fun little treats, cookies, breads, and cute gift ideas…as well as wonderful meats!

I picked up a bag of mini cinnamon chips and just could not wait to try them out in some cookies!  You can buy cinnamon chips at most groceries stores in the baking aisle by the chocolate chips.

I tried these out on my husband, who was skeptical at first, and then ended up loving them.  Then I tried them out on a granddaughter that thinks there in nothing better than a Snickerdoodle cookie and she also was hooked on these!

This recipe is from On Sugar Mountain and it has the addition of cornstarch, which she says will keep your cookies soft and fresh for a longer time.  I don’t know if that is true because these cookies did not last long enough to find out!  :)Cinnamon chip oatmeal cookies Continue reading

Unexpected Blogging Hiatus

I had an accident on the 4th of July and had my first ambulance ride! I was washing out a glass lemonade jug and it broke open in the sink, cutting my arm. It hit one of the two major arteries, unfortunately, and I am pretty much out of commission right now! I’ll be taking a break from blogging for the next little while. I’m doing better but it will take some time to heal before I’m back to blogging.

I am so fortunate that my kids and husband were here to help until the paramedics arrived and have been so much help these last few days. My husband even did his first batch of laundry in 38 years. So it’s not all bad, I guess!

Have a great week!

Pillowcase Doll Dresses

Well, I don’t know about you, but I had a very productive weekend.  I was able to get all the Christmas put away and I went to town on cleaning my house!  I got my steam cleaner going and I got everything sparkling clean!  Well, at least the main living areas. :)  I am still working on organizing my closet, I have been waiting for a jewelry organizer to come in the mail, and it came on Saturday, so now I can complete that little project! :)

One of the projects that we did during the holidays with a couple of the granddaughter was another “grandma sewing class”.  One of my granddaughter’s kept asking me if  I would do another sewing class, so we decided to do pillowcase doll dresses!  The girls each got a “Fur-Real” monkey friend for Christmas, so we thought it would be fun to make some dresses for each of the dolls.

This post brought to you by Arby’s. All opinions are 100% mine.

KING’S HAWAIIAN sandwiches are BACK and now available at Arby’s (for a limited time)!

I was given a gift card to go try out one of the Arby’s King’s Hawaiian sandwiches.  So I chose the King’s Hawaiian Roast Beef sandwich and I have to say that this is one of my personal all-time favorite sandwiches that they have!  I love the simplicity of the roast beef that is piled high along with the sweetness of the King’s Hawaiian bun!  YUM!

Happy “Unofficial” Mother’s Day!

Today is the first day of school here in our area and even though all of my kids are grown and out of the house, it is still a holiday!  It was a tradition for me to call my sister on the first day of school every year and wish her a Happy Mother’s Day, because we had decided year’s ago that the first day back to school should be the “unofficial” Mother’s Day!  You know that I am just kidding…kind of!

To help get all the grand kids off on a good start I made them all  back-to-school boxes!  Even though some of them are not in school yet, I couldn’t leave anyone out! Continue reading
