Women’s Conference

We had a Stake Relief Society Women’s Conference at our church this past weekend.  It is an annual event that the  Stake Relief Society puts on.  The Relief Society is an organization for the women in our church.  There was a keynote speaker and then we broke out into different classes.  After all of the classes there was a luncheon.  I was asked to be in charge of the decorations for the tables and the cultural hall, for the luncheon.
I had a committee of amazing women to help me!Stake RS Women's Conf. This was a display that we had up on the stage.  It was beautiful with all of the different pictures of Christ, the anchors, lanterns,  coral, flowers and lollies on the curtains!Stake RS Women's Conf. Here is a closer picture of some of the details.  We used anchors as the theme for our decorations because it was part of the scripture that was used, and as a reminder to anchor our hope in Christ.Stake RS Women's Conf. This is a close-up of one of the tables.  The scripture from Ether was the theme for the conference, I will tell you a little more about this theme at the end of this post.  We did the floral arrangements in quart mason jars and tied a paper anchor on two sides of the jar.  In the pint jars we simply filled them part way with sand, added a seashell and a battery tea light.  We then tied the top of the jar with jute and another paper anchor.  There were three pint jars on each table.  The printed theme was placed on two sides of the floral arrangement.Stake RS Women's Conf.We decorated 29 tables, plus a couple of floral arrangements on the food table and a couple of them on the stage.  It looked so pretty with all of the battery tea lights in the mason jars on each table!Stake RS Women's Conf.It was a lot of work, but  we felt good about our efforts and as I said…I had a wonderful committee and they all helped so much that it came together pretty easily!

The conference keynote speaker was amaazing!  It was Collette Hall and she has such a wonderful message about hope and faith in the Lord…EVEN IN TRIALS.  She taught about looking for the good even in your despair.  Counting your blessings, even when it is hard to find them!  I loved her words and her message!

I found out just a day earlier that Collette had designed the scripture image that was used throughout the conference.  We used it on the tables and it was used for the program cover.  I asked her if I could share it with you on my blog and she very graciously consented, so here is the image that she created:Ether 12:4Isn’t this beautiful…she has such a talent for her creativity and it is no wonder that she creates for a company that I am sure some of you are familiar with…Silhouette!

It was a wonderful conference and everything turned out beautiful, from the food to the decorations, to the spirit that was there in the general meeting and each of the classes.  I am glad that it is done and now I can say that we have had our turn!  :)

I hope that each of us can find hope and count our blessings…in good times…but especially in trials!

Have a great day everyone and Thanks for Visiting today!

  2. Would love to know the titles of your classes in case we want to do this theme for one of our upcoming Women’s Conferences. Thank you for sharing your great ideas with those of us who are a little “decorator challenged”.

  3. I came across your post on Pinterest and was wondering if we could have permission to print these bookmarks for our young women for our Girl’s Camp?

    1. Ginger, Yes you have permission to use them for Girl’s camp. I am glad that you are able to use one of my ideas. Good luck with Girl’s camp…hope you have a great time!

  4. Hi ~ I would love to use the art you created for our Ward Relief Society Retreat in February. I’m not sure if it will be a poster, or a bookmark. thanks!

    1. Melissa, I did not create that art but I was given permission to put it on my blog knowing that others would want to use it too. So you have permission to use it for your RS activity. Good luck! Rita

    1. Gail, They had parenting classes, money management, family helps, and how to keep the spirit to be with you always, just to mention a few. I think that everyone could choose 3 different classes and they rotated every 40 mins or so. Rita

  5. I love love love love everything you did to decorate for this special women conference. Very elegant and so simple. I love how the center of everything was our Savior. I am going to try to do the same for ours. Thanks for your ideas and the time you put into it.

    1. Gabby, Thank you for taking the time to write your kind comment. Our Women’s conference was beautiful, but I had a super committee and everyone helped. It was fun to see it all come together! Good luck with your conference! Rita

  6. Hi! My name is Joseph Wride and I am a member of Skyline High Schools Seminary Council for the 2017-2018 school year. Our seminary themed scripture this year is Ether 12:4 and during my research I came across the great design you used for this scripture. I wanted to ask if it would be possible for me and my other seminary council members to use the design as well as we advertise the scripture and teach people about it. Thanks!!

    1. Joseph, Collette Hall designed that design. She gave me permission to share it on my blog. I assume that she knew others would want to use it as long as it is not for financial gain.

  7. My search for an image of Ether 12:4 led me here and it is not the first time I’ve found lovely ideas you’ve shared! Many thanks to you Rita and to Colette too!

    1. JN, Thank you for taking the time to write your kind comment. I appreciate your sweet words and your support. I am grateful to Colette too, for all her many wonderful images! I am glad that I have a CU license to use all of her cute things!
