1.  You will then need to take the top off with one of these can openers that opens the can on the side, not the top.  (Mine is an OXO brand that I just got at Target.)  Empty out the contents of the can and wash the can and the lid and let dry.

2. Print labels & cut them out then add the label to the can with tape or glue.  Fill with your choice of treats.

3.  Carefully Hot glue the lid back into the can.

Carefully tie a ribbon or two on the tab without lifting it enough to pop it!  Of course the ribbons are optional, but as you know, ribbon just makes everything a little bit cuter!  :)Halloween-can-labels-001-Page-2Here are the labels for you to print.  Just right click over image and go to “save image as” and save it in a folder, then you can print from there; or right click over image and go to “copy image” then open your favorite program like presentations and right click again and go to paste.   You can then print the labels.   I printed mine on regular paper because it will wrap around the can a little better than the cardstock weight paper.  I also print most of my printables in “vivid” mode in the printer set-up for a more brilliant color!

I love the look on the kids faces as they try to figure out how I “canned” candy!

If you are doing a Halloween Party, these labels would work great with the Halloween Party Pack!

  1. Love this! If you don’t have one of the can openers like you suggested, you can also open the bottom of the can and use a super glue to put it back in place.

  2. What a great idea! I love this! Another suggestion is to attach the label to an unopened can of soup and add a little package of crackers. Would be a great “mystery” dinner–perfect for Halloween time! I’m going to do this for my kids this year!

  3. I do this all the time, however I open the bottom of the can then glue gun the bottom back on, the pop top opens better that way. Thanks for the ideas and printables.

  4. These are cute, thanks for making them available to us! I also concur with one of the other readers. I use the can opener on the bottom and then glue that section in place after filling! Sharing the idea with our craft board! Again, thank you!

  5. How do you hot glue the lids back on? The hot glue dries to fast for me to get it back on. I’ve done it around the lid and around the rim of the can.

    1. Lana, try using the cool touch hot glue. It does not dry quite as quickly, but you still have to work fast. If not, you might want to try a tacky glue and put it on the lid then set the can on top of the lid upside down until the glue dries. Hope this helps.
