Citrus Infused Vinegar!

Have any of you tried Citrus Infused Vinegar for cleaning?  My oh My…I love that I can clean with vinegar but have a fresh citrus smell!  It doesn’t get a whole lot better than that!

Citrus Infused VinegarI made a batch of this vinegar and I fell in love immediately with the fresh smell and the wonderful cleaning job that it does.  You can use this on your wood floors, your tile, your bathrooms,  on mirrors…really about any cleaning job you might have!  I used this on a stainless steel drinking fountain and it made it shine as well as smell good!

There are all kinds of recipes out there on the internet to make this vinegar, but the one I used I found in a magazine called Mary Jane’s Farm.  There is an article in the the Aug-Sept 2015 issue about cleaning and the reason this recipe is a little bit different is because you add essential oil to the mixture!  So it smells twice as good!  :)

Essential Oil-LemongrassThis citrus infused vinegar is super easy to make and it uses ingredients that you probably already have:

Citrus Infused Vinegar

1 gallon distilled white vinegar

5-6 oranges or grapefruits (peels only)

Water

Essential oil- I used lemongrass, but could use orange, citrus, eucalyptus, or your own favorite scent.

Add citrus peels to vinegar.  Let sit for 3 days to 2 weeks (the longer it sits, the less it will smell of vinegar and the stronger its cleaning effect.)  When ready to use, pour 1 part vinegar concentrate to 3 parts water into a spray bottle.  Add about 10 drops of essential oil.  Use on counters, floors, even mirrors…and it smells lovely!Citrus Infused VinegarI put all of my ingredients into an ice cream bucket.  I used 4 large oranges and one grapefruit for the peels.  I only let part of mine sit for 3 days…because I am a hyper person and could not wait to try it!  :)  I will take the peels out after 2 weeks and pour the concentrate into another jar to store it.  Keep it in a cool, dark place for best results.citrus infused vinegarI love that I can make my own organic cleaners that work so well …they smell so good…and they cost a fraction of the cost of commercial cleaners!

Have any of you used citrus infused vinegar in your cleaning?  I would love to hear about it and have you share your recipe and experience…good or bad!

I also want to share a Friday’s Favorite with you!

MaryJanesFarm Magazine [current cover]

Last week when we were down in Vegas with two of our grandsons, we went to a bookstore to buy one of the grandsons a book to read.  I had heard about the magazine, “Mary Jane’s Farm”, and I found a copy of it there.  I fell in love with this magazine almost instantly and I read the entire magazine cover to cover!  You never know I might just become a Farm Girl!  :)  I have several of the pages bookmarked and want to try out several different ideas that I found.  It was a refreshing read for me.  Have any of you read this magazine?

Today is the 24th of July and it is Utah’s State Holiday.  We are going to a have a family party, play some Pioneer games, make butter and enjoy our Pioneer Heritage!   I can’t believe where the summer has gone, because by the time the 24th rolls around, it seems to be the last summer party before everyone starts getting ready for back to school and fall.  REALLY…FALL…where has the summer gone?

Hope you all have a great weekend.  Thanks for visiting.
