Laundry Room Makeover

Today I have my laundry room reveal!!

My husband is quite proud of this little room because he helped me hang the ladder and the whole time he kept saying…you’re going to do what?…with what?  But then when it was all said and done, he really liked the result and agreed with me that it was a-one-of-kind!laundry room makeoverI saw this idea out there on Pinterest, but when I clicked on the link, it was a broken one.  So I just made up what I was doing…and I think that it turned out great and I am in love with the POP of color in my laundry room…and the fun drying rack!laundry roomI took down a wallpaper border that I had at the top of the walls and
I painted my walls from this tan color to the warm gray color and I love the difference.  Even though it wasn’t a drastic change, it really updated this room.  The color of the gray paint is “Agreeable Gray” from Kwal Paint .  The colors I used were orange, turquoise, and navy for the accents.

I was going to get the pedestals for my washer and dryer and recess the water taps, but decided that I really did not want to go to all that expense and trouble!  I would of had to do something with my countertops because they would have been quite a bit lower than the pedestals and I wasn’t sure that I wanted to invest in the pedestal with my older washer and dryer.  In the end, I decided just to leave it the way it was and maybe when I have to replace the washer and dryer…I will do a bigger remodel.  But for now, I am loving my simple re-do!laundry room makeoverI bought a bamboo ladder at Home Goods and I spray painted it a bright orange.  We hung it from the ceiling with hooks and chains.  My husband did all the math and figuring, so that it is centered from end to end and from side to side!  After that we simply had to drill holes and put in the eye hooks and hook the chain with “S” hooks.

I found all of my pictures at Gordman’s .  I was able to find all of them at the same time and love how they all have the turquoise color in them!laundry room shelfThis is the same shelf that I had in here before.  I simply painted it navy blue, (even though it looks black in this picture) I distressed the edges and hung it back up in the same place.  I found this lantern and the owl at TJ Maxx.  I put a battery operated candle in the lantern and added the sisal ball that I spray painted the same color orange as the ladder.laundry room drawersI bought this little set of drawers at Hobby Lobby at half off!  You can’t beat that.  The orange drawer was red, so I painted it, distressed the edges and did a brown wash to age it a little more and make it match the other drawers.  I love this little set of drawers.  I have my dryer sheets in one drawer and some fabric softener cubes in the other drawer.  I am going to put my laundry pods in one of the baskets and the other one I am going to put some Downy Unstopables.  I am still looking for some clear rectangle baskets to put in the drawers to contain them.  I want the Downy to be open because I am really using them for air fresheners as well as fabric softener!  :)laundry room makeoverSo this is my new laundry room.  I love that it is new and updated.  It is one of a kind and it is not only fun but it is very functional!  I love to go in here and admire my new room.  You noticed that I did not say that I love to go in here and do laundry…I won’t go quite that far…but at least now it is bright and cheery and I ALMOST enjoy doing laundry again!

This was a simple makeover.  It did not take a ton of time, nor money!  This is my kind of makeover!  My house is almost 19 years old and it is time to start redoing a lot of things.  If only they could all be as easy as this room!

Do any of you have any rooms that you have made over that you love?  It is amazing what a coat of paint and a few new accessories can do to update an older design!

Thanks for visiting today!  Happy Monday!

  1. Great Redo! Maybe a plastic container that salad or strawberries come in would fit in your small bins. Good luck finding something.
