Block of the Month-April

Here is my new Block of the Month block from the “Sew Classic Sampler”.

It is called a Dresden Plate.  I have never made one of these before and thought that they looked really hard, but guess what?   It really was not that hard and I had fun learning how to make this block and making it!

I love the applique on this block and I learned how to make “perfect circles”  by using a template and then run a gathering stitch around the outside and gathering it around the template.  Then iron with a good spray starch that has been brushed around the edges to get that perfect circle!  They also taught me how to get my corners matched up and make good points at the tutorial they had at  “Just Sew”

I love the colors in this block.  They are just so springy!

I am now ready for the next block and I have to wait another whole month! UGH!

Here is a close up of this block:

I love this block, which is a good thing because I think that there are 3 more in this quilt!

Have any of you ever made a Dresden Plate quilt block?  What do you think of them, do you like making them or do you hate them and stay away from them altogether?

I am definitely a lover of them now that I have made one, but I was not sure before then. :)

Well I am off to work on a bunch of new projects that I will show you as they get finished.  I don’t know why, but my brain just keeps coming up with all these projects that it wants my body to do!

Have a Happy Monday!  Love Ya!

  1. Such a pretty block! It reminds me of the quilts my Grandmother used to make when I was a little girl. I remember helping both Gram and my Mum arrange the ‘petals’ so the different fabrics would be pretty. Lovely memory–thank you! :-)

    1. Thank you for your comment. I remember looking at all the quilts that my own mother made and it brings me a sweet memory also!

    1. You should really try one of these sometime. They are not as hard as they look! I can honestly say that it was quite fun to learn! Thanks so much for taking the time to comment, I appreciate it.
