Choices-Thought

Before I do my Choices-Thought I want to wish every mom out there a Happy Mother’s Day!

Today is the first day of school here so…I want to wish all of you mothers out there an unofficial Happy Mother’s Day!  I used to call my sister every year on the first day of school and wish her a Happy Mother’s Day…and I kind of feel like a young mom today, because I am sending one of the kids that I tend on a regular basis to school all day today!  He is in first grade and I have been tending him since he was 6 months old!  It is a bittersweet feeling, because you miss the baby/toddler stage, yet you are happy for their future!  I am not sure what I will do with my time now, but I do have some fun plans for the next couple of weeks to celebrate!  (I could clean house or work in the yard, but that is no fun!)

Now on to today’s post!

I thought that it would be fun to do a quote from our 40-day conference reading.  It is from the talk by President Monson on choices:Choices-thought-000-Page-1This is also a great quote to send your kids off to school with.  We all have to make many choices every day, so let’s try to choose the harder right instead of the easier wrong!  You could talk to your kids about the story in his talk “Alice in Wonderland”

“You will remember that Alice comes to a crossroads with two paths before her, each stretching onward but in opposite directions. As she contemplates which way to turn, she is confronted by the Cheshire Cat, of whom Alice asks, “Which path shall I follow?”

The cat answers, “That depends where you want to go. If you do not know where you want to go, it doesn’t matter which path you take.”

Unlike Alice, we know where we want to go, and it does matter which way we go, for the path we follow in this life leads to our destination in the next life.

I am loving these conference talks and if you are not on the bandwagon for reading them, it is never too late to start!

Thanks for Visiting Today and Happy Unofficial Mother’s Day! :)

  1. Happy Mother’s Day, to you! This is a bittersweet time for me as my youngest graduated last spring. No more shopping for school clothes, going over the supplies list for classes, helping with an assignment…very bittersweet, but like you, I’m excited for his future. Blessings your way! And thank you for the quote by President Monson. It’s applicable in so many ways, including to my youngest.

    1. Trudy, thank you so much for taking the time to comment. It is a bittersweet time, but hopefully you will find things that make you happy to fill your days. Thanks for the blessings, hope you have a great day!

    1. Natalie, You are welcome. Hope you are enjoying the 40 day conference challenge. Thanks for setting up your FB group with the challenge!
