Feeding An Army

Yesterday for our Sunday dinner I made Stromboli.  This used to be a family favorite when my kids were all at home and we would make this a lot of times on Sunday night.  Now when I make this I have to make enough for an army..well almost! When we get together for Sunday dinner now we are up to 19 or 20 people depending on who is there.  It is fun chaos and the noise decible goes up considerably when everyone is there.  But it is great to see the cousins become good friends to each other!

So does anyone want to make stromboli?  This is a super easy recipe and can be customized to your own family’s likes.

You will need:
Bread dough
Pepperoni
Cheese-your choice (I used Cheddar, but a pizza blend or just motzrella is good too)
Sliced Ham
Mushrooms
Sliced Olives
Any Pizza Toppings that you like
I used frozen bread dough because it is so easy, but you could also make your own dough. 1. Roll your dough out into a 16 x 12 rectangle.
2.  Add a layer of pepperoni (or any other pizza meat) along half of the dough.
3.  Add a layer of cheese on top of the pepperoni.
4.  Add a layer of sliced ham on top of the cheese.
5.  Add  mushrooms, olives, green peppers, whatever you like, on top of the ham
6.  Finally add a final layer of cheese to top it all off.

Fold the dough over the top and pinch all of the edges to seal the insides in.Then if you are cooking for an army, repeat 4 more times!  I have some picky eaters, so I had to put olives in one pan and mushrooms in the other and I marked them  as you can see.   Bake at 350 for about 30 mins until golden brown.  ( You can tell when bread is done by lifting up a corner and if the bottom has browned the bread is done)While the Stromboli is baking, you can make the dipping sauce.

1- 8 oz. can tomato sauce
1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
1 teaspoon garlic salt
1 teaspoon dehydrated onions
Mix together and let it sit so the flavors will blend together.

So easy and all the kids, young and old like it.  Pair it with a salad and some fresh sliced apples and you have a great meal that everyone will enjoy! This is my little army.  The big boys get to sit at the bar. Sorry about the lighting,  we have great ambiance in the kitchen, but horrible for pictures!  :)The younger group gets to sit at this little table just off the dining room.

And this one is the king of the roost in the high chair! The rest of us sit at the table but we are all in the same room and so it is great chaos fun to have everyone together every Sunday!  I am so lucky to have all of my family so close and I really do love having them come every week.  My daughter and DIL’s all bring something for the meal and I just do the main dish, so it really works out great and we all have a fun time being together as a family.

What family traditions do you have?  I love how traditions can really hold a family together and create a great bond!

Have a happy Monday!  Love Ya!
