When we were planning my dad’s 90th birthday party, he said that his favorite color was blue, so we used blue and yellow to decorate with. I decided at the last minute to make a Blue Turning Twenty Quilt for him! I did this quilt with blue and cream and I was able to find all of the fabric at a local quilt shop called “Broadbents”. Today I am finally showing you some of my sewing room makeover ideas! It has been a fun project to do with my granddaughter and we have enjoyed seeing it all come together! But we would get part of it done and cleaned and organized and then we would make pillows, pillows and more pillows...so we would have to clean up that mess and then I quilted my Americana quilt in between times and had to clean that all up! This room definitely gets used! Continue reading
Today I have a darling Baby Cakes quilt to show you that I started a year ago! I had all of the blocks finished and all I had to do is put it together and add the border and I kind of forgot all about it, until I was cleaning my sewing room a while back! Yesterday I mentioned that my daughter was making some things for her new house. Well of course she wanted new bedding and bedroom decor for the kids, so we got busy making some quilts. For her son’s room…she is doing it in super hero’s and the colors are the bright primary colors, so she decided that the quilt needed to be in those colors but with a simple pattern so as not to be too busy with the other decor. This is what she came up with and I think that it is perfect! Continue reading
We had another baptism in our family this last weekend! It was number five out of ten grandchildren…so far…hopefully we have a few more babies still to come!
With all of my recuperating time from my accident and now with summer coming to an end really quick (the kids start back to school next week!) I did not get to my usual sewing classes for all the granddaughters. But I decided that I would do a class with my oldest granddaughter because she is now old enough to do most of it on her own! Eight years old is a great time to start your little ones sewing, because they are so excited about it and they are getting the coordination that is needed to run the foot pedal and guide the fabric at the same time!
