Real People Ironman!

I have been working out lately.  I was always tired and non motivated and I just decided that it was time to get going!  I have always walked and swam but not really pushing myself.  So I talked to a friend of mine, who is a trainer, and she agreed to work with me!   She is killing me, but it is a good feeling! :)

She has me doing weights, biking, swimming, walking, and cross training.  She got me started for a couple of weeks and started me going on the weights and biking, then she took off for two weeks to go be with her daughter in Hawaii, who just had a baby!  Tough place to go to help out your daughter, right?   But I am trying really hard to keep motivated and to build up my endurance while she is gone!  One of the things that she gave me was this challenge to do a “Real People Ironman”  I asked her if I could copy it and share it with you on my blog.  She said that I needed to make it cute, so here is my version of a little bit cute:

Thursdays Thought-Today You are You

I kind of have a thing for Dr. Seuss, and my thought today comes from the book, “Happy Birthday to You!”

This thought is perfect to frame and give to the birthday person to let them know just how special and unique they are!

I love this saying and I hope that all of you out there know just how special YOU are!

School has not started yet in our neck of the woods, but this would also be a great saying to frame to give your child before school starts, or for the older kids, it would make a fun locker sign to hang in their locker!  Some children just need to be reminded how great they are when they have some anxiety about going to school!

Today-you-are-you-000-Page-1

This is formatted to an 8 x 10 print, for those that wish to frame it.

I hope that you all have a great day today and that you will all realize YOUR potential and that you will see the potential in all those around you too!

Happy Thursday Everyone!  Love Ya!

Father’s Day File Folder Books

If this is my dad or my husband, please do not read this post!

I made these fun file folder books for Father’s Day and so I decided that I would share them with you today.  They are really pretty easy to put together, so if you still need a last minute idea for a gift, you could still make one of these!

File Folder Memory Books

I don’t know if many of you know that I used to own a scrapbook store called “Forget Me Not Scrapbooking Co.”  I closed my shop several years ago and I have not really done much scrapbooking since then.  But then, my children are all married and out of the house, so I don’t have as many events to scrapbook any more!    I love to do my “Smash journal” and I love all scrapbooking products and use them for all kinds of paper crafting projects but just have not done much in the way of scrapbooks.

A couple of weeks ago our local Archiver’s was hosting a Heidi Swapp File folder class and so I decided to take it just for fun!   Boy was that a mistake, (but a good mistake!)  I am hooked on making these little mini books and I love the look of these sweet things!

I made these for gifts and I can hardly wait for an excuse to make more of these!  I have several ideas in mind, including some for Father’s Day, baby books, and they make great birthday gifts or would be perfect for a wedding gift!

Sweet Valentines Recipe Book

Can I just start off today by saying that my husband has been gone for 2 weeks and I am sooo glad that he is back home again.  I enjoyed the break of no cooking, going out to lunch, playing and shopping with friends, for about a week or 10 days, but then it gets lonely being here by myself and I was more than ready for him to come home and take care of all the everyday stuff .  I really missed his friendship and his companionship!  So welcome home honey!

Today I have a fun little review of a cookbook that I love!  This is not a sponsored post, it is just something that I wanted to share with you because it is one of my favorite recipe books!  I said that it is a sweet Valentines recipe book, because:

It is called: Cooking for Two by Debbie G. Harman

Handmade Smash Journal

I hope that you all had a very Merry Christmas and that you are still enjoying time with your loved ones!  We had a great Christmas Eve gathering with all of our family and it was so fun to have all of my family together!  We had dinner and a fun night of sharing our White Envelope Stories (we changed this up just a bit this year and had the kids all tell us what they did).  We then we opened presents with all of the adult men getting a Nerf gun and having an all out competition with a target drawn on one of my french doors!  (Even my 86 year old dad got in on the action!)  It was crazy!

Then we all settled down to read the Nativity story in Luke 2.  The kids loved the nativity costumes and it turned out really cute to have them act out the different parts!

So are you now ready to move into 2013?

It seems like we all turn to organizing and setting some goals for the new year and I have a fun little idea for you.  I am not very good at setting goals because they are the same every year, which means that I am not very good at accomplishing the goals that I set for myself!  But I am good at making lists and accomplishing a lot of the things on my list, so I love the idea of the Smash journals.  If you are not familiar with them, the basic idea behind them is that you just “smash” your ideas, pictures, magazine articles, ticket stubs, etc into your book.  Here is the description from the Smash Pinterest page:

“So, what do you Smash? Well, it doesn’t have to be a life event, just the special little moments and mementos of your day—some of that stuff in your junk drawer, for example. A snapshot, a ticket stub from that movie you loved, a newspaper clipping, a magazine snippet, a cardboard coaster from a favorite restaurant, your child’s first crayon doodle…get the idea? Smash it, jot a note or add a caption sticker, and go! Smash is a great way to document everyday life or a road trip.”

So I made some “Smash” books for some of my Christmas gifts this year!

Ikea Book Shelves (Spice Racks)

I don’t know how many of you have seen on Pinterest or out there in blog land, these spice racks from Ikea used as a book shelf. Well, I saw the idea about a year ago and I have literally been waiting that long to get some!  They have been back ordered, in stock and out again for over a year!  My cute neighbor, Susan, called me last week and said that she was at Ikea and they had some in stock and did I want her to pick some up for me!  Don’t you just love friends that watch out for you!
