Princess Party

We had our little princess party last week and the girls (my granddaughters) LOVED it.  They were so cute and they all get along so well.

I made these tutu’s

a few days ago, I found this fun party pack with the tiara’s, jewelry, wand, flashing microphone, banners, and lip gloss!  It was perfect for what I wanted.  When the girls got here, the very first thing they did was to to get  all dressed up like little princesses!Aren’t they adorable?!Then they each strutted their stuff!  Some sang,Some were coy,And some were practicing their model poses! We had a royal lunch with heart shaped tea sandwiches, chips, heart jello jigglers and a royal drink (cherry 7-up).  We learned how to use our napkins, sip our drinks, be polite, and stick out our pinkie finger to show how posh we were!  We had these princess cupcakes for dessert. After lunch we played pin the frog on the princess, fairy-fairy-princess (duck-duck-goose), we colored paper dolls and did a princess maze, then we practiced walking and sitting like a princess and worked on some of our dance and twirling moves!

After we had worn ourselves out, or at least grandma, we read Fancy Nancy and learned how to be posh and very FANCY!

When it was time to go home they all got to fill up their goodie bags with some yummy treats and goodies and Magical cookie wands!

It was a great party and they were all so cute and so sweet that it was a joy to have them and to spend the afternoon all together.  There is nothing that beats being a grandma!

They are blowing a kiss to all of you and hoping that you can be princess for a day too!

With love from,

Recipe Book Dividers

It is January and I am still trying to do a little bit of organizing, I had this BIG stack of recipes that I had printed from different websites, pages that I had ripped out of magazines and some recipes that were handwritten by myself or given to me by a friend.  So I decided that I really needed to get them all organized, since they are recipes that I use and I was getting tired of flipping through the whole entire stack to find one recipe!  As I was looking through these recipes I noticed that some of them had been printed 3 years ago!  So I would say that it was definitely time to get my act together.  :)

I went to Costco and bought this plain white binder that you can put a page in the front of it and also in the spine.  This is the 2″ size. Continue reading

Getting Organized

I am still busy cleaning and dejunking.  I have been working in my closet in the bedroom.  I have filled 3 big garbage bags full of clothes, shoes, belts, etc. to donate.  I am determined to clean my closet before I put any of my new clothes in there!  Tomorrow I will clean off the shelves and the built in drawers and then I will be done with my closet and I hope to continue throughout my whole house throughout the next few weeks.

I have been searching the web for different sites with helpful hints.  One of my favorite sites is Flylady.net  She has some great ideas and encourages “baby steps” which I like.  She has a journal that you can make to keep yourself organized and you can even join her email and she will send you an email every day of what to do that day.  The one thing that is her trademark is to shine your kitchen sink every night before you go to bed, so that when you wake up in the morning you will have one thing that is clean and ready for you to start the day!  I really like that and I know that when I do it, I feel better about the day knowing that I do not need to start my day by do dishes.

A book that my DIL told me about is: The Joy of Less. This is a minimalist living guide.  It is a good guide for dejunking, although she is a little extreme in some of her thinking, (I guess I’m not a true minimalist because I like my stuff too much!)  But there are some great ideas and steps to getting rid of your stuff, and the book goes through every room in your house and tells you how to go about cleaning out each room.

The Joy of Less, A Minimalist Living Guide: How to Declutter, Organize, and Simplify Your Life

There is another blog called My Simpler Life that has a calendar for 2012 with something every day that you can clean.  You can download it and use it to get yourself organized.

What are some of your best organizing tips?  I would love for you to leave a comment and tell me what works for you!

Fun Halloween Books

I love children’s books and I have two that we get out to read every year for Halloween.  My grandchildren love these two; the boys love,

“Frank was a Monster who wanted to Dance.”

Written and Illustrated by Keith Graves

It is a monstrously funny, deliciously disgusting, horrifyingly hilarious story of a monster who follows his dream.

The illustrations in this book are delightfully wacky!

The girls love this darling book by Mary Engelbreit,

“Queen of Halloween”

It tells about how Ann Estelle is ready for a Halloween night on the town, but Halloween can also be a little bit scary.  Will Ann Estelle be brave enough to ring the bell of the spookiest house in  town?

Of course the illustrations in the book are darling.

This book also includes a paper doll of Ann Estelle, so that is a fun little bonus!

I hope that you can spend some time this weekend reading to a child and enjoy their wonderful responses, it is so fun to see the delight in their faces as you read the story.  What are some of your favorite children’s books?
