I have been looking for an old chair without a seat in it for a couple of months now. It is one of the reasons that I started going to garage sales! And a few weeks ago I was able to find this chair at a garage sale in Wanship, UT! It was at this really cool antique place, but I did not take a picture of it. I know shame on me, but if you are ever in Wanship, it is right on the main road across from the old Spring Chicken Inn. Anyway I could have looked around for hours, but my husband was waiting, so I just grabbed this chair and he shook his head as I loaded it up! :) It is perfect for what I wanted! Continue reading

Americana Porch
I gave in and decorated my front porch for the 4th of July. I had my flip flop wreath and ribbon topiary, but just had to change it all out for the 4th. It was my patriotic duty! :)This bench is just off to the left side in the courtyard. Continue reading
Happy Memorial Day!
I hope that everyone is having a great weekend and enjoying our first official summer holiday! I hope that you will all remember your loved ones that have passed on and that we can honor their legacies.I am grateful to all those veterans that have given their lives for our freedom and hope that their families can find peace in the service that they have given. These flowers are some that I picked up at our cabin! They are so beautiful and I love all the colors that we have! I just had to share them with you.
Happy Memorial Day!
Gerbera Daisies
Here is a quick, easy, cute way to plant Gerbera Daisies! I got this 3-pack at Costco and all I did was paint 3 terracotta pots with black acrylic paint. I did not paint the rim, because I did not want to paint the inside of the pots.
Spray paint will kill the plants if you paint inside the pot, and I am not sure what acrylic paint would do, but I did not want to take a chance!
I then just cut the three different vinyl words and applied them to the pots. Next I tied a raffia bow around the rim. I hot glued the back of the raffia and behind the bow so that the bow will not fall down every time the wind blows! Plant your flowers and that is all there is to it! I have this fun flower cart that I put them in, but they would look cute on your steps on your porch or down the middle of a table for some cute centerpieces, or grouped with a big planter pot! If you have not gotten your Mother’s Day gift, this would be a fun idea!
I love this instant touch of color on my patio!
I got almost all of my pots planted yesterday and today, I have planted 18 different pots and I will probably do one or two more! I love pots of flowers because they add a beautiful spot of color in your yard, but the best thing about planting pots is that you do not have to weed them!
Planting a Flower Pot
I planted a couple of my flower pots, but I am keeping them in the garage for another week or so, until our Utah weather is a little bit warmer! My good friend, Susan, works at a nursery and a few years ago she taught a class on how to plant your flower pots. I usually plant about 14-15 pots and baskets every year! I love them, but I am nuts because I have to hand water most of them. Crazy, I know. Continue reading
SNAP Conference Recap
I know that I am a day late and dollar short on this post, but I wanted to show a few fun shots of when I was at the SNAP Conference a couple of weeks ago. I learned a lot of what to do and what I do NOT want to do, so that was good. It was great that it was at Thanksgiving Point and so close that I did not have to travel much.
This was the table setting at the dinner and welcome the first night. How festive is that?
Gardening Time!

I am really excited to try the new Miracle-Gro Expand ‘n Gro™ Concentrated Planting Mix. I recently went on a vacation and when I got home, much to my dismay, a couple of my potted plants had died. If I had had this mix,( that retains up to 50 % more moisture), my plants would have been just fine. If I use this soil, I won’t have to worry when I am gone for several days at a time. You also only have to fill your pots part way with this soil and then add water and it expands 3 times so it saves money on potting soil. I plant lots of pots of flowers outside in the summer, so it will be great to save on the potting soil and not have to water them quite so often!
I also want to try this mix in my garden because I have a little bit of clay in the soil and by adding this mix it will really help to add mulch and nutrients to the soil and the benefits can last for several years. Plus it will feed my plants for up to 6 months helping them to grow up to 3 times bigger, producing more fruits and veggies! It is an easy way to prep my garden for the spring and summer growing seasons.
So let’s all get out there and start growing!
Easter Decor
I put out some of my Spring/Easter decorations the other day. I had a really good helper in my granddaughter that I was tending. We decided one afternoon when she was here that it would be a good idea to start decorating. Her little brother, however, was not the biggest helper! He was not feeling good and I thought that he would maybe take a little nap. NOT! I guess that is what I get for trying to out guess him. But we did get the front entrance done and the stairway. This is what it looks like:
Happy Valentines Day!
Today I would like to do something that I have not done before and that is to do a tribute to my dear hubby. These are the beautiful roses that he sent to the house, they smell sooo good and they look so beautiful. When they arrived they were these tight little buds and they have opened up and released the most beautiful scent! We had red roses for our wedding almost 36 years ago and I still love them today!
