Last week I taught a sewing class for the Young Women in my ward at church.
It was one of the same classes that I taught to the women in a Relief Society activity and the young women wanted to learn, so we did a sewing class for them! It was how to make the maxi skirts that I did here.
These girls were all so cute and eager to learn how to make these skirts. There were about 15 girls there and they all got their skirts done except for the hem in 2 hours. They were faster than when I taught it to the women in RS!
Here is my new Block of the Month block from the “Sew Classic Sampler”.
It is called a Dresden Plate. I have never made one of these before and thought that they looked really hard, but guess what? It really was not that hard and I had fun learning how to make this block and making it!
I love the applique on this block and I learned how to make “perfect circles” by using a template and then run a gathering stitch around the outside and gathering it around the template. Then iron with a good spray starch that has been brushed around the edges to get that perfect circle! They also taught me how to get my corners matched up and make good points at the tutorial they had at “Just Sew”
One of the stops that we made on our recent trip was at the Mac Cosmetic Store in Las Vegas! I love going to this store because we only have Mac Counters in Utah, so when I get close to a store I try to make a visit! :)
I love their products and the quality, but they are a little pricey so I feel like I have to be careful when using them and take good care of my products. So when I got home I decided that a new make-up bag and brush holder were in order!
My husband and I just got back from our annual trip to Sunny Arizona! We go every year for Spring Training Baseball, well at least that is what we say we go for, but we pack a whole lot more into this trip than just baseball! My number one favorite reason for going this time of year is for the beautiful sunny skies! It is always so warm and wonderful every year when we go and I love just soaking in all of that gorgeous sunshine. It does make it a little difficult to come home when everyone back home (Utah) says that it is snowing again, but after a glorious 10 days we did decide to come back! :)
I am so excited! I joined a block of the month quilt at Just Sew in Highland, Utah!
I absolutely love the colors and the patterns in this quilt.
The pattern for this quilt is called: Sew Classic Sampler.
This pattern is designed to teach three kinds of piecing (regular, paper and template piecing) as well as a little applique. It is a very stunning quilt and I am SEW excited to be doing this!
These are my first two blocks that I have finished for this month:
Name of this block is: Arbor Window (aka Granny Square)
Yesterday we had another one of our sewing classes for Relief Society in my church. I taught them how to put in a zipper and we made these fun zippered pouches!
These are so fun to make and they are a great project to learn how to put a zipper in! This is a beginning sewing class so all of the projects are simple to make. There are a lot of pictures in this tutorial, but do not let that discourage you. These are literally a 15-20 minute project once you have made one and know how to do them! Continue reading

Here is my February Calendar. I had a fun with this one because it is all done in red and pink! Two of my favorite colors!
We are starting a beginning sewing class in our Relief Society. That is the women’s organization in our church and I am in charge of teaching it. I am so excited because we have some really fun projects that are for beginners, but they are so cute that I think those that already sew will want to join us too! :)
In our first class we are going to make these darling Maxi Skirts!
(Don’t you love my new dress form? I just got it and I am so excited that I can dress it for my pictures now!)
