The PTA leaders of all of the schools in Newtown, PA are requesting our help in supporting the families whose lives were turned upside down after last Friday’s tragedy. If you’re looking for a way to show sympathy and encouragement for this community, here is a project that is in need of support. It is a perfect activity for the entire family, or for any individual who’d like to help.
When school resumes for Sandy Hook, it will be in a new building. Parent-volunteers are working to ensure that the students are welcomed back by a winter wonderland with the entire school decorated with as many unique snowflakes as possible.
I had two of my grandkids today and so we decided to make glittered and jeweled snowflakes! My granddaughter cut a bunch of glittered snowflakes with my die cut machine and then she wanted to add jewels to the middle of each of them. (She is all girl!)
Then she cut a bunch of plain white ones so that she and her brother could glitter them up!
She thought that this was the best idea ever!
And she was so excited that she could do something to maybe help the kids of Sandy Hook Elementary School feel the love that all of us around the country have for them!
We made a nice little package of snowflakes that we will mail with a note telling them where these snowflakes came from to show how far this effort has spread.
Want to get your family involved?
Simply make and send snowflakes by January 12, 2013 to the following address:
Connecticut PTSA
60 Connolly Parkway
Building 12, Suite 103
Hamden, CT 06514
Please feel free to share this idea with your friends to help spread the word.
We just sent our first package….
Merry Christmas…
Bless You! I think this is such a wonderful idea and I hope that they get so many snowflakes that they won’t know what to do with all of them!
As a school we are doing this!
glad to see other people joining in!
Oh, that makes me so happy! Thank you! I hope lots of others will join in too!
