Today I have a fun project that I have been working on…this Knitted Ribbed Cowl Scarf.
I got it completed just in time for our 1st major winter storm!
This was one of those projects that I just decided to do on a whim. (Imagine that!)
At a shopping trip to Wal-mart, I saw this end cap on one of the aisles! All of those colors just drew me in. When I looked at the label, I saw that there was a free pattern download and I was suckered in…hook, line and sinker!
Knitting is not one of those crafts that I have done in awhile. So I was excited to see that this was a very simple pattern with only two different stitches throughout the entire pattern! This knitted ribbed cowl scarf is simply knit 3 purl 3 from start to finish!
Because of that this is an easy project for beginners to learn on!
The pattern is from Lion Brand Yarn. You can find this pattern by searching for Pattern Number: L60378 on their website. It is a free pattern!
Although it is a beginning pattern, it still took me a while to get it completed. You knit the entire ball of yarn and your scarf will end up being about 66 inches long before sewing it into a loop.
The grey colors with a pop of pink is a perfect little accent. It completes this skirt ensemble. And will be great with jeans, leggings, and my walking gear!I guess if we have to have snow…it is good to be prepared with a nice warm scarf!
This was a fun little work on me in the evening project! Sometimes my arthritic hands had a hard time working for very long. But it was good to pick up and work on for a period of time while watching the Olympics!
Another project that I like to knit are these wonderful dishcloths! Try them…you will love them too!

thank you for sharing all your creativity! you make vt’ng so much easier for me!
I love the scarf!! I really want to do this. Guess I’ll check out the yarn department at Walmart tomorrow. Thanks for sharing.
I’m still fairly new on the knitting scene, most of my knowledge limited to what I see on Ravelry, so seeing knitted costumes is a new experience for me. These are so gorgeous and I love the addition of storytelling and basing those designs off of fables. I see the Tudor Roses book has a similar concept! As a lover of stories, I think I may have to get both of these books just for that alone. Thank you for introducing me to another side of knitting!
OK, I’ve started, not once but 4 times. How did you remember to knit 3 purl 3, without being distracted and loosing track of where you are?
