I was looking at all the fun Back to School Supplies in the stores and decided that I needed to make Back to School Kits for all the grandkids! This is a fun idea for grandparents, parents or just to make kits to donate to your school or for humanitarian projects! All of these supplies are out in the stores right now and they are usually on sale for the month of August, so you can put these back to school kits together without breaking the bank! A lot of the stores will have a list of things that the kids need, so you can check that out or just put some fun things together, either way the kids will love it!This is what I put in the kits…pencils, pens, colored pencils, crayons, package of Kleenex, scissors, glue sticks, pencil sharpener, ruler, pencil box, notebook,
water bottle and Skittles!
Our kids can have water bottles at their desk, especially at the first of the school year when the weather is still hot. The Skittles are just a treat for them for right now, they are not a necessary school supply…although some of the kids may think they are!I also added foam stickers so they could decorate the top of their boxes!I now have two grandkids in Junior High!! (Boy does this make me feel old!)
For their Back to School Kits I just put pens, pencils, a notebook and a bag of candy for their locker! When my daughter was in High School she always had a bag of candy in her locker to share, so I decided to continue on with that tradition! :)So now these kids are ready for school to start…some are more ready than others, but at least they have a few of their supplies and I hope they all have a great year! (I am missing half of the grandkids that are on vacation, but they will get their kits when they get home)
Do you need to make a few Back to School Kits for your kids, grandkids or to donate to a worthy organization? I love school supplies and so it was fun gathering all the fun things to put together! I also printed off several different bookmarks for them to choose from, to put with their kits. Here are a few of the ones I found:
I made these school bookmarks 3 years ago, click on the link to print.
This site has several different bookmarks! Click on the link to see all of the different bookmarks.

Are you ready to make some Back to School Kits? I hope you can help encourage your kids or some other kids to love learning!
Such a clever idea, as always….I just finished making my grandsons “Schultute” or School Cornets which is a tradition in Germany, and it is a big cornet filled with school items, like you did here. The kids will love it.
Roswitha, What a wonderful idea! I love that you used a tradition in Germany to give the kids their school supplies!!! They WILL love it. Thanks so much for sharing. I love when traditions are incorporated into our family life!
