Last week I went out and bought some snowshoes. One of my walking friend’s said that she had some and she wanted to use them and my son and DIL went out a couple of weeks ago and said how fun it was, so I decided to try my hand at Snowshoeing!Wow! IWhat a great workout! This is what was behind me when I started…And this was on the side of me! It doesn’t get much prettier than this! The snow was absolutely glistening in the sunshine!Okay…I am ready to start out snowshoeing! At this point I could see my snowshoes and I had high hopes of going a few miles! But when I got going I sank down into the powder up to my mid-calf and it was hard work! No one has been in on this property with any vehicles, so there was no trail to follow! I kind of got onto a deer trail, but it really did not do me a lot of good, the powder was just so deep! I only fell down once and I am not ashamed to admit that…but what I am ashamed to admit is that it took me 4 tries to get back up! I need to get more strength in these old legs! :)I ended up only going a mile or so, but it was extremely good exercise! I loved being out of doors and it was such a beautiful day that I didn’t mind getting all worked up! :) I really cannot wait to go snowshoeing again! My husband took these pictures while I was out walking, he was scoping for deer and elk, but took a few minutes out to take a few pictures of his “dear”!This is what I call a fun day in the Sun! Do you have a winter hobby that you like to do? I also want to go out cross-county skiing, it is on my bucket list for this winter.
We LOVE to snowshoe. We decided that we needed to invest in more childrens snowshoes as we have about 4 that are old enough to go with us. We live so close to the mountains and Waterton that we have such beautiful lakes we can go to.
Kelly, I am jealous that you live so close to the mountains and Waterton Park! My friend and I went out this morning just out behind the house in the gulley. It was so beautiful and we had an awesome time! I think I have found a new winter exercise that I love! :) Rita
