I have not really gotten out in my yard and started planting pots yet, but I do have a fun plant idea today…these DIY Teacup Succulent Planters! These teacup succulent planters are so adorable! They would be a perfect gift for Mother’s Day which is right around the corner.
Or you could use them for a teacher appreciation gift, ministering, just because, or of course for yourself!!!
My sister and I went to an English Cottage gardening class last weekend.
We spied some cute teacup planters, but did not get any of the plants while we were there.
So, I went back this week to get some and they were all sold out except for a couple of varieties!
They are small plants that are made for very small containers.
I checked two other nurseries and no one else had really even heard of them.
Therefore, I decided that I would go another direction with these little planters.
Which led me to some fun succulent plants.
Succulents are wonderful for small containers because they require so little water and care!Pretty much anyone can take care of a succulent. All you need to do is water it once in awhile and make sure it get some sunlight! This one with the trailing vine is just so cute! It looks like little peas on a vine! And the pink tips on the other succulent add a little bit of color and fun texture. Both of these DIY Teacup Succulent Planters have a colorful plant and a trailing plant to give them height and color.
To plant your own teacup planters, all you need is a succulent, a teacup, some small rocks and a little bit of potting soil.
Place the small rocks in the bottom of the teacup, add just the root ball of the succulent, then fill in around the sides with the potting soil. You can add small pebbles or moss to the top to decorate, but that is only for looks.
Be sure not to water too much, you do not want your succulent sitting in water. The rocks are for drainage, but there is no where for the water to go if you water too much!I put my DIY Teacup Succulent Planters behind my kitchen sink!
Don’t they look cute right there? They will get plenty of light and I get to enjoy them every time I do the dishes! Here is the full view of what it looks like behind my kitchen sink….One of my happy places!
Do you have any plants in your kitchen?
What are your favorite ones?
