We had another baptism in our family this last weekend! It was number five out of ten grandchildren…so far…hopefully we have a few more babies still to come!
This is our cute little red head! He is full of fun and loves life. He is a happy boy and loves to play sports, go camping, riding 4-wheelers and just enjoying the great outdoors! This quilt is like the others that I have made. They are minky fabric on both the front and the back! They are very soft and cuddly. I have the corner square embroidered with their name, choose the right and the year, so they will always be able to remember their baptism! This is a close up of the squares. This grandson loves all sports, so when I found this sports fabric, I knew that would be the main fabric and I would match the other squares to that printed one! I did an all over quilting pattern but I added stars in with the stippling pattern to match the stars in the printed fabric! This family loves the University of Utah sports, so I had to add the red minky to the back of the quilt in honor of that! Here is our fun-loving grandson.
We are proud of him and the great person that he is!
Beautiful quilt! Where do you get the fabric?
I get all of my minky fabric at the Fabric Mill in Orem. Here is a link: http://www.fabric-mill.com/ They have a wonderful selection of minky and it is a very good quality minky and I love that I can get it all in one stop!
What is the finished size of the baptism quilts.
The cut size of each square is 10″. I did 5 squares across and 6 squares down…so the approximate size is 50″ x 60″- less 1/4″ seams. This makes a nice size for a lap quilt!
Did you use batting between the front and back.
Yes, I use a thin batting called warm and natural. I have quilted without a batting before and it does not look as nice as when you add the thin batting. It helps to keep the shape of the quilt. I would definitely recommend that you put a thin batting in the middle!
Thanks
