Last week I showed you my Bee Happy Quilt, today I want to show you my Bee Happy Quilt Label!
Quilt labels are a wonderful way to document a quilt! I have only been doing labels for the last couple of years.
But, it is fun to be able to read the label and remember all of the details of each quilt!
For this label, I decided that the “Bee” was the most appropriate applique to add here.
The label is a 5 x 5 inch square with 9-one inch strips sewn down one side. Then I appliqued the bee to the top of the label.
Of course, you will want to do all the writing on the 5 x 5 square before doing any of the stitching. That way, if you don’t like the way the writing turns out…you can always try again on a blank square!Using a micron pen, I was able to write all of the information that I wanted included on the label.
After the label is all stitched together, you simply fold in 1/4″ around all four outside edges. Then hand stitch the label using a blind stitch. Here is what the label looks like on the back side of the quilt.
You will love using labels on quilts. They are a fun way to document your quilt for future generations.
Just wish I had known about documenting all of my quilts that I made years ago, but can always go forward from here on out!At least this quilt is documented and is ready to be hung and displayed in my front entrance!
Have any of you made quilt labels?
What is your favorite way of making labels? Do you do paper pieced labels, pieced quilt blocks, applique labels or a design of your own making?
I have already started my next quilt and I am excited to show you. It is called a Courtship Quilt and the tutorial is from Missouri Star Quilt Co.
Hope you have a “Bee Happy” Day!
Your “Bee Happy” quilt has made me happy this morning just by looking at it. You do great work! “Bee Proud” of what you have accomplished
