I have a super fun quilt for you today…It is this Picnic Charm Quilt On Point! This is one of the quilts that I learned about at the Missouri Star Quilt Road Show.
You can make this quilt with charm packs which are 5″ squares. Or you can just “shop” your stash of pre-cut squares. There is always the option of cutting your squares too!
Last summer I cut most of my scraps into squares and I was able to find all the squares that I needed to make this quilt. It was necessary for me to buy the wide outer border and the backing, but I had everything else that was needed! The tutorial for this quilt is found at Missouri Star Quilt Co. tutorial.
There is a very unique way to make this quilt on point, it is super easy and you can watch the tutorial for full directions.
Can you see yourself making one of these quilts?
A baby quilt would be really fun with this pattern.
You would not need the wide border for a baby quilt.
Here is a close-up of some of the fabrics that I used. It was fun to just pull from my stash and put them all together.
If you use a charm pack, all of the fabrics go together, so putting this quilt together would be a breeze! This quilt is intended to be used!
It is perfect for picnics, ballgames, parades, summer bonfires, or night time fireworks!
I love that it is also the perfect size to use for a picnic tablecloth!
Put a dark fabric for the backing and then you do not need to worry about it getting dirty! This is the label that I chose for this quilt. It is on point, so it matches the pattern on the front of the quilt.
“Life is always a picnic with you!” is a fun saying that I wanted to add to this label. After I took this picture, I realized that I had not put the date on this label, so I went back and added it!
Documenting your quilts is a fun way to show future generations where the quilt came from and who made it. In this case, they will know that it is a picnic quilt and it is intended to be used!So this is my Picnic Charm Quilt on Point. It will be perfect for so many summer activities and I am excited to see the many places that it will travel to!
Rita, I think that the quilts ( courtship, starlet and others) are so nice. Missouri Star has so much and truly can help make your project easier.
I have a ? for you. When signing your quilt labels are you using a permanent maker or fabric pen or other?
Keep up the GOOD WORK you are an inspiration to us all!
Kris, you will definitely want to use something permanent. I use a fine point 03 Micron marker, but you can use whatever permanent pen feels the best to you. You can also heat set your label with a hot iron and a pressing cloth if you are worried about it. Thank you for your kind comment. Yes, the Missouri Star has wonderful patterns and tutorials. They take all the work out of figuring out a pattern, which is wonderful!
Simply beautiful.!
Sandra, Thank you so much for taking the time to write your kind comment. I appreciate your sweet support. Hope you have a wonderful day!
