Today I have some fall yumminess! I don’t think that is a word, but we will pretend…Okay? Just the title says how good these are going to be!I have to admit that these are not the most photogenic donuts, but I was tired and dealing with sinus problems when I made these, so I did not decorate them or make them look pretty…but they are still full of deliciousness!I made these with my doughnut pans, but you could also make these as cupcakes! They would be cute with some fall sprinkles or with the icing piped on!
- 2 Tablespoons butter
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 Granny Smith apple-peeled and finely diced
- Mix all together in small saucepan and cook till soft about 8-10 minutes. Set aside.
- 1 spice cake mix-(15.25 oz)
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup butter
- 4 eggs
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1/2 cup butter-melted
- 1 cup brown sugar-packed
- 1/4 cup milk
- 2 cups powdered sugar- more or less to consistency
- hot water-optional
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Spray doughnut pans with cooking spray. Set aside.
- Mix cake mix, milk, eggs, butter, and flour just until mixed. Fold in the cooked apples. Spoon into doughnut pans, filling two-thirds full. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean. Let cool in pans for five minutes before removing to a rack to cool completely.
- In a saucepan, melt 1/2 cup butter. Add the brown sugar. Bring to a boil and lower heat to medium low and continue to boil for 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Add the milk and bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Cool to lukewarm. Gradually add sifted confectioners’ sugar. Beat until thick enough to spread. If too thick, add a little hot water.
- Frost doughnuts and top with sprinkles or nuts if desired.
- These would also make great cupcakes if you do not have a doughnut pan. Just let them bake a little longer until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean.
Do you need an easy treat that is packed with yummy goodness? You might want to give these a try! Thanks for visiting today!

Just a note for those interested. I went to Alphagraphics yesterday to get my conference Ensign spiral bound…and they told me that it was going to cost more than ten dollars!!! I asked them why the cost had gone up so much and they told me it was a company decision, but they did have a smaller version of the conference talks and it was only $2.50. It is spiral bound and has all of the talks, but none of the pictures. So I decided to go that route. It will be great to throw in my purse or church bag! Just a thought for those of you that are local. I will still use my regular Ensign for the 40 day challenge…because of the page numbers.
