My neighbor gave me some more of her blackberries and I had a few peaches off of our peach tree and I could not wait to make Blackberry Peach Shakes! These shakes were so full of flavor and fresh goodness that I had a hard time not making them every night!I made these into a shake, but you could easily make a fruit smoothie by just changing up a few ingredients!
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 1 cup vanilla ice cream
- 1 cup frozen blackberries
- 1 cup frozen peaches
- Put all ingredients into blender and blend until smooth,
- To make a smoothie: substitute fruit juice for the milk, and yogurt or sherbet for the ice cream and add 1/2 cup crushed ice.
These blackberry peach shakes would be perfect to make to celebrate this Labor Day Weekend. They are a great taste for the end of the summer!Do you need some of this goodness in your life! If you don’t have any blackberries…this weekend would be a fun time to visit a farmer’s market! Or you can buy frozen fruits and make this delicious blackberry peach shake.
I had both fresh peaches and blackberries, but I flash froze both of them so they would last longer. To flash freeze, just lay your washed, cut fruit out on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Freeze the fruit until frozen and then put them in a ziplock bag to store in the freezer. You can take out whatever amount you want, because they are frozen separately. I did not have very many peaches this year because of our weird spring weather, but the ones we got were large in size and they were so juicy! We ate most of them fresh and I only froze one cookie sheet full. I will have to ration them now! :)
Do you have a recipe that you like to make with ingredients from your garden? I would love to hear some of your ideas!
