I have a fun little idea for your dinner today.
It is cute little Petite Pies!
I found my mold at Gygi’s last week and I have made three different pies now. My husband loves meat pies and I love knowing what goes in them now! They are really easy to make and when I made the last batch, I made extra ones and put them in the freezer, so now I have a meal ready to go the next time I am feeling lazy and don’t want to cook! :)
These are really easy to make and I love that they are an individual serving.
This is how to make these cute little petite pies:
Using this cute little mold from Tovolo, you cut your pie crust. One side puts an “xo” impression in your crust and cuts out the scalloped circle. The other side cuts out the scalloped circle, but a heart shape is also cut out of the middle of the “o” for the vent in the top of your pie. So cute! There are several different molds to choose from, I just liked the heart.
Then you open up the mold and put the crust without the hole in the bottom. Add your filling. I just used canned cherry pie filling here, but I also made a chicken pot pie and a beef pot pie. The beef pot pie was my husband’s favorite! There are recipes that come with the mold and I kind of followed the recipe, but of course I always change things up to suit our individual tastes.
Then you put the top crust (with the vent) on and you close up the mold. This crimps the edges together. This mold crimps your pie into the shape of a heart! I love it.
Put them on a cookie sheet and bake. Or you can freeze them at this point. I just flash froze mine in the freezer and then double wrapped them in plastic wrap and put them back in the freezer until I am ready to use them!
The dessert pies are wonderful, warm out of the over with a scoop of ice cream! On the beef pot pie, I added a little gravy to the top, but there is gravy inside, so you really don’t need the extra gravy, but it was yummy! Add a vegetable or side and you have a great meal that everyone can enjoy because you can custom make each one!
So does anyone want to make these fun little petite pies for dinner or perhaps for your next party!
It is Friday, so have a great weekend everyone! Love Ya!
These are so cute. What a fun dessert or entree, either way. I’d love to find them locally.
I think that there is a store finder on the Tovolo website!
how super cute I love little desserts like this that way I can have one all by myself
Thanks so much for coming to my link-up party yesterday, I hope you’ll come back again next week! xoxo~ Ruthie
