Are you ready to start making Fruit Slushies now that the weather is starting to warm up?I always freeze peaches, raspberries and strawberries in the summer and then I don’t want to use too many of them up in the winter, which is dumb, because that is why I freeze them! But come spring and early summer I am ready to use them up before the new crops start coming! They are perfect for making these fruit slushies!
These slushies start with a simple syrup that you can make extra of… so that you have it ready to go when you are in the mood for a slushie! You will need to keep a few limes on hand or juice a bunch of them and keep the juice in 1/2 pint mason jar! The lime juice is what sends these slushies over the top. They are sweet with the fruit and tart with the lime juice…a perfect combination!
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup frozen fruit
- 1/2 cup ice
- 4 Tablespoons Simple Syrup
- 2 teaspoons fresh lime juice
- Bring the water and sugar to a boil for 2-3 minutes until the sugar is dissolved. Let cool and pour into a mason jar for future use. (Can double this recipe and keep in the fridge)
- For the fruit slushies: Can double or triple as needed, depending on the size of your blender
- Combine everything in the jar of your blender and puree on low at first, then on high until everything is well blended and creamy. You can add a small amount of water if too thick. Pour into glasses and garnish with fruit chunks if desired. Serve immediately.
- I like to make a double batch of the simple syrup and keep it in a mason jar in the fridge for future use. I also squeeze several limes at the same time and keep them in a separate jar. Then you are ready to go when you need a fruit slushie!
Don’t mind all of the calories and carbs that are showing up in this recipe…they are for all of the syrup and you are only adding 4 tablespoons.
Are you ready to sit outside in the cool evening air and sip on one of these refreshing fruit slushies? I am!!
I made this slushie with peaches and raspberries, but you can use any combination of fruit that you like. I am thinking strawberries, bananas, blueberries and blackberries just to mention a few! Make some simple syrup and then you are ready to try any combinations that tickle your fancy!
I think that this recipe would also be good with a little 7-up. It would give it a little bit of fizz and who doesn’t like a little bit of fizz? :) Hope the warm weather is soon coming to your neighborhood if you don’t already have it!
Sound refreshing and delicious!
Debbie, They are very delicious and I don’t feel guilty having one…or two! :)
