This recipe is so good and it is very easy to make. I have not always been a big fish lover, but since I have discovered Tilapia, I have a new found love for this mild tasting fish! This is the recipe that my husband made for me after my accident. I just sat in the kitchen and walked him through what to do. He was actually very impressed with himself that he could make something this good! :)
- Tilapia fillets
- seasoned salt
- garlic salt
- salt and pepper
- olive oil
- 1 tablespoon butter
- Fresh rosemary-chopped fine
- In heavy skillet, drizzle olive oil, covering the entire bottom. Add one tablespoon butter. Turn heat on to low and let oils heat to a sizzle. Add your tilapia and season the top side with garlic salt, seasoned salt, salt and pepper. Let cook on low heat for about 6-7 minutes depending on the thickness of your fillets. Do not turn up the heat. Let these cook slowly until a nice golden brown on the bottom. Turn them over and season the top as needed and add your chopped rosemary. Let this side cook until it is golden brown also. (By adding the rosemary to the top side you do not lose any of it when you turn the fillets over.) Let these cook slowly, but do not overcook and dry them out. Serve with tartar sauce, for a delicious melt in your mouth dish!
I used my heavy frying pan to make these and as the recipe says, you will want to cook these over low heat until golden brown. Turning only once and cook the other side.Adding the rosemary after you have turned the fillets over will prevent you from losing it all in the bottom of your pan! The rosemary is what sends these over the top for me! You could also add any spices that you love to customize this recipe for yourself or for your family. I buy my Tilapia loins at Costco. They are frozen individually, so I can take out just the amount I need and keep the rest. This is one recipe that my family loves for our Sunday dinners, so I can take out the whole package and cook it , or I can make 2 for my husband and I when we are alone. This recipe works great with halibut, or salmon also! You could also sprinkle on freshly grated Parmesan cheese to top it off!
This is one of our favorite meals now. I serve it with myBasil pasta salad,or my Sinful Potatoes and I have a delicious meal!
Do you need a new dish for dinner tonight or to put on your meal plan? This is a great entree to try and it is great because it is such a mild fish that even the kids will eat it!
