I have been working out in my yard trying to get everything cleaned up and getting all of my pots and flowers planted. I like to spend most of my evenings out in my yard, so I enjoy having a “room” outside on my patio.
I like to have new pillows for this room, but outdoor pillows and cushions are quite expensive…so I usually just recover the ones I have!
It is super easy to make new slipcovers for your old pillows! I have a full tutorial on how to do it here. It is called 15 minutes Pillow Slipcovers and it really only takes about that long to make them! I seriously think that it takes longer to figure out your dimensions and cutting the fabric, than it does to sew them!
These are my old pillows. They really don’t look as faded here until you look at the pictures in the tutorial, then you can really see the difference. The sun just wreaks havoc on these pillows and I usually have to redo them every year or two.
I got my fabric at Hobby Lobby (with a coupon) and so it was very inexpensive to to make these. The fabric is a printed canvas, so it is a good sturdy fabric!
If you do not already have pillows to cover, you can make very inexpensive pillow forms by following the directions here. These are great, because you can make them any size that you want and are not limited to the shape either!
I love the new updated colors here, but I might need to add a pop of turquoise somewhere!
These pillows are going to go in my back yard on the patio. But they looked pretty cute out in the front court yard on this bench…maybe I am going to have to make another set for the back! I really need to refinish this poor bench but I kind of like the old weathered look and I am having a hard time trying to decide what to do. What do you think? Should I leave it or refinish it, I would love to hear from you.
I will have to do a little yard tour when I get everything done, so I guess that I need to keep working because summer will soon be upon us!

Hey I love them, and I just used that exact same yellow to make two pillows for my bedroom and recover the pad on my cedar chest! Too funny!! Great minds think alike. Except I should have used your directions instead of just eyeballing them. They would have turned out a lot better. Lol!
