Well, Halloween is over so it is now time to turn to the next holiday…and it is NOT Christmas! I sewed a new project… and I am excited to show you my Thanksgiving Bench Pillow!
This is another fun pattern from Kimberbell. I love the message to “Gather Together”, isn’t that what Thanksgiving is all about…gathering! This has a fun “braid” border on the top and the bottom that is rectangles that are pieced together. I have never done this technique before and it was kind of fun to put it together! Here is a close-up of the leaf and acorn wreath. They are appliqued on and stitched around with a blanket stitch. The lettering is also appliqued on and stitched. The pumpkin is appliqued and then it is quilted to give it the dimension of the pumpkin shape. I did an all over stippling for the quilting and it makes the appliques stand out even more!I am loving this Thanksgiving Bench Pillow. It looks so cute out here on my bench in the front courtyard…but it has way too much work on it to leave it out here in the weather. So I put it in my living room on the couch:It looks great in here with a blue accent pillow! I love this time of year when our thoughts turn to gratitude and we think of our families and traditions and great memories. I hope that you have some wonderful memories that you can recall and good family times. I know that there are some of you that do not have great family memories…I hope that you can start some new ones, and go forward with new memories that are happy… and that you can look back on and they will bring a smile to your eyes!
That is a beautiful pillow. Job well done!!
Now that our kids are grown, we have established our home as ‘home base’ and if the kids can make it for holidays, then it’s wonderful, if they can’t, then we miss them and look forward to seeing them the next time :)
We are blessed to have lots of happy memories of years past, and happy and blessed that as our family grows, we are growing new happy memories as well.
Have a great week!

K, Thank you once again for your sweet, kind comment. I love your ‘home base’ where all the kids are welcome. It is great that we have families that want to come home! Hope you have a great week also!
