Happy Haunting!

From our house to yours:

Happy Halloween!

We had our Halloween Party on Sunday with fun food, games and costumes!   We played Bingo, Don’t Eat Jack, Pin the Heart on the Skeleton,  Mummy Bowling and the one tradition that the kids all ask for as soon as they walk in the door: an old fashioned fish pond with lots of fun prizes!

It was great fun and I love to see the kiddos in their costumes!

I hope you all have a happy and safe Halloween!

To all of you who are in the path of Sandy, you are in our prayers and we are thinking of you and hoping for the best outcome for you!

Feeding An Army

Yesterday for our Sunday dinner I made Stromboli.  This used to be a family favorite when my kids were all at home and we would make this a lot of times on Sunday night.  Now when I make this I have to make enough for an army..well almost! When we get together for Sunday dinner now we are up to 19 or 20 people depending on who is there.  It is fun chaos and the noise decible goes up considerably when everyone is there.  But it is great to see the cousins become good friends to each other!

Homemade Ice Cream in a Bag

A few days ago I had all the grand kids over for another little water party with the blow up slide.  They love the slide and we had a great time.  For a little treat we made homemade ice cream in a baggie!  They thought that it was kind of fun to each be able to make their own little bag of ice cream.  It is really easy to do…all you need is your favorite ice cream mix, zip lock baggies, ice and salt.  Then you have to shake, shake, shake it, like this: Continue reading

Our 4th of July Party!

Here are some pictures of our 4th of July party.  I know there are a lot of pictures so please  forgive me.  We were few in numbers with our family members, but the kids still had a ball!  It meant more of everything for them… more time on the water slide, more prizes & more goodies!

We started off with the water slide while is was still HOT!Then we moved into sponge ball dodge ball, only this little one was just fascinated with the feel of the sponge ball! The boys thought that this was great fun, including the big boys!Next we did a target throw.  This is a new game at our house this year and they got a little competitive in this game because they are earning points to win prizes!  If you would like to make your own target throw the directions are found here at  Family Fun.

1st Sewing Lesson

I saw an ad in a local paper for sewing lessons for children and when I checked into it I found out that it was already full, but it got me thinking that it might be a fun grandma camp to do this summer with my oldest granddaughter!  Since I already have her here at my house twice a week it would work out perfect.

Marathon Gift Basket

One of my cute little DIL’s ran the Utah Valley Marathon this last weekend!  I was so proud of her for accomplishing her goal.  A marathon is something that I have always wanted to do, but know that I cannot, so I will admire all of those that do.  She had some injury difficulties and was still able to push through them to complete her race, so that made it even more of an accomplishment!  You can read her inspiring story here.

Father’s Day Subway Art

I thought that it would be fun to do a subway art picture for Father’s Day, but instead of just words I did “Dad Sayings.”  I had a fun time remembering a few of the things that my husband used to say to the kids!  This would make a fun gift or just put it up for a little summer decor.  It would look great in a double frame with a picture of  you and your dad! Minky Quilt as you Go, Quilt

I made this quilt for my grandson’s baptism.  It is made with all  minky fabric and so it is very soft and cuddly!  And it was fun to make because you quilt it as you go and so once you are done sewing the quilt together, you have also quilted it!

Is this not the cutest kid you ever did see?!! :) Continue reading
