Floral Quilt

I have another quilt post today! :)

Here is the quilt that my daughter made for her daughter.  She sewed this quilt top several months ago and we just needed to add the outside borders to make it a little bigger, then I quilted it for her and sewed on the binding, because she said the binding would take her another month to do!  She exaggerates!

Easy Chevron Halloween Quilt

Here is one of the quilts that I have been working on this past couple of weeks!

I was a little bit worried about how this quilt would really turn out because I bought some of the fabric at a quilt show that I went to and after getting part way done with sewing the quilt, I realized that I had only gotten 1/2 as much fabric as what I needed!  So I went to my fabric stash and got enough to sew about 3/4 of the quilt and then I had to go buy the rest of the fabric!  So this is really a mismatched quilt, but I actually like how it turned out!

Stitched Christmas Quilt Blocks (WIP)

I have so many projects going on right now that I am driving myself crazy!  I tend to do this every year in the fall, I get the bug to start sewing, crafting, reading, baking, canning and organizing!   I just need to pace myself and finish one project before I start the next one!  Do any of you do that too, or am I the only crazy one???

I am working on 4 different quilts right now with the patterns and fabric for several more!  I bought my quilting machine a few months ago and now I think that I have to use it all the time… it just keeps calling my name…but I love learning how to use it!

This quilt that I am trying to get finished up this week, my WIP (Work in Progress), is from Bird Brain Designs and the name of the pattern is Snowmen & Reindeer Bluework Quilt.  I got this pattern last spring when we were in Arizona on our little annual vacation.  I am doing it all as a redwork so that it will match my other Christmas quilts that I have already made.

I have been working on these block since last spring and I have all but one of the blocks completely stitched and I am hoping to get the last one done this weekend!

Minky Baptism Quilt

One of our grandson’s was baptized this last weekend.  This was a special day for him.  In The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints the children are baptized when they are 8 years old.

I have made it a tradition to make a quilt for each of the grandkids for their baptism.  It has always been a minky quilt with minky fabric on the front and the back!  They are so warm and cuddly!  I also have their name and the year and “choose the right” embroidered in one of the corners.

Exercise Belt

I go in spurts when it comes to exercise, sometimes I love it and I am very dedicated and sometimes I just don’t have the energy or desire to do it.  I have been more in the “no-energy, no-motivation” mood lately and I have decided that it is time to get re-dedicated again!  The weather is starting to cool down just a bit now and I really do enjoy being outside to exercise.  My father-in-law came across a women’s bike and asked if I wanted it, I decided that might just be the thing to get me started again!  So I told him yes and I have been riding it and have quite enjoyed my rides.  I am going to add biking, now along with my walking, to see if I can’t get a little bit more motivated.

I love to listen to my music when I exercise but I do not have an arm band for my phone, so I usually just end up sticking it in my bra! (gross, I know!)  :(

But, I came across a tutorial the other day on how to make a Running Belt and decided to give it a try!

This works perfect!

I can put my phone, my keys, ID, a little change or whatever I need to carry in it and I am hands-free!  I am loving it!

I did not do a tutorial on how to make this because there is such a good one here at “The Sewing Rabbit”  She has great instructions and details along with wonderful pictures on how to make your own exercise belt!  Be sure to check it out if you were like me and putting your phone where it probably should not be!  :)  You might just need to make your own too!

It only takes 1/4 yard of spandex material, a 7″ zipper and some fold over elastic.   I have never used the fold over elastic before, but found it at JoAnn’s ( they have several different colors and patterns)  It is kind of fun to use!

Well, I guess I am off to exercise!

Have a great weekend!  Love Ya!

Darling Ruffled Skirt

A while back my daughter made this  blue and white striped skirt  for her daughter.

She also got some fabric to make another skirt from the same “Izzy and Ivy Design” pattern book  So, today I want to show you the other skirt that she made!  I am sooo in love with this skirt, look at all those ruffles and bows… it is a little girl’s dream! (A big girls’ dream too!)

Sewing Skirts-Girls Sleepover

Last week I had three of my granddaughters for a sleepover!

One of them had been asking me when I was going to teach her how to sew, so I decided that I had better get on the ball  and get it done before school starts again.

We had a sewing… fingernail painting…lots of eating… tea party… fashion show… and dancing party!

To start of the evening we had dinner first, then we went right to work making these skirts:

Red and Yellow Quilt

Have any of you ever had a project that you worked on so much or for so long and had so many problems with it that you were sick of the project before you ever got done with it?  Well that describes this quilt perfectly!

I sewed this quilt top 5-6 years ago in a Relief Society class that we did a block a month.  I was learning how to do some of the different quilt blocks, so I can’t say that they were my best work, but I always have loved the colors in this quilt and I finished the whole top and the sashings, but I felt like it needed some borders, but I just never got the fabric, so I just never finished it!

Fast forward 6 years- I got this quilt top out a few weeks ago and found some fabric for the borders and the back.  I put it on to quilt and the tension on my quilting machine was way off and it took me several attempts and phone calls before I finally got my machine working right, I was  just about ready forget about this quilt, but I finally got it quilted only to find that when I loaded the quilt on the machine, I was 1/2 inch short  on one end, after it was all quilted!  So I had to trim the outside border all the way around!  But after I got the binding on and hung it up to take pictures, I decided that it turned out OK after all!  I still love the colors in this quilt, which is it’s redeeming quality!
