“Fall” Letters

This is a post that I shared a couple of weeks ago over at “I Should Be Mopping the Floor”  and wanted to share it with you today!

I have a little project that will help you celebrate this beautiful time of the year.  I love this project because it is one that you can leave out on your kitchen table, a fireplace mantel or a shelf for several months.  It does not need to come down with the Halloween decorations and can stay clear through Thanksgiving!

These wood letters are so fun to make and they are super easy to paint with my super-duper painting tip that you can find here!  You will never go back to painting wood letters the old way after you have done them this way, I promise you.

After you have “painted” all of your letters you will want to mod podge scrapbook paper onto a couple of the letters, as I did here.  You will also find a full tutorial on how to do this in that painting post.

After painting this “leaf”  letter, I did a thick coat of Mod Podge on the top only and sprinkled a fine orange glitter all over it.  Press it in with your fingers and let it dry a bit before shaking off all the excess glitter.  I then spread another coat of Mod Podge on top of the glitter to hold it all in place.  I gave all of these letters 2-3 coats of spray varnish to protect all of them and to give them a pretty shine!

Now you can decorate a couple of the letters with ribbon, wire, flowers, leaves, etc.

I just tied a big bow around the leaf and it looks pretty with all of that glitter!

Now just find a fun place to display it:

I love it in my wheelbarrow for a fun little display, but I have so many Halloween decorations out on my front porch that I will probably leave this fall decoration on my kitchen table.  I only have to move it once a week when all the family comes home for Sunday dinner, so this is a great place for me to be able to see it everyday while I am in my kitchen!

I hope that you enjoyed this little project and that perhaps I have inspired you to try to make something like this.  You really need to try painting some wood letters with my super-duper easy trick!
