Today I have another fun project…a Cutting Table Makeover!I mentioned to one of my friends the other day that I needed to go find a cutting table to put in my craft/sewing room.
She said that she had one that I could have if I wanted to refinish it! I already knew what color I wanted to paint it, so I took it!
This is what it looked like after I did a quick sanding of the pieces. I was lucky that it was in pieces, because it fit in the back of my SUV.
All you have to do to refinish a piece of furniture if you are using chalk paint, is to do a light sanding to remove the shine and get any dents out.
Or you can leave some of the dents in like I did, because it gives it character!I used this chalk paint from Home Depot. It is a great paint and it sands really well if you want to distress it!
Check out this dresser makeover that I did with this same paint here. This dresser was black before, so it has more of the black distressed look. The cutting table was brown, to begin with, so it has a warmer distressed look. But I love the way it turned out.
To distress, the edges, simply sand off the amount of color that you want removed! Do the edges and corners and anywhere else you want the underneath color to be seen.
Apply a good coat of wax or varnish to finish and protect the surface.
My husband helped me move it into this room, so that I could give the table top a good coat of wax.
I used the Annie Sloan clear wax on this table and I love the finish it gives to it.Then I started bringing in the fun stuff! We already had this bar stool, and it fit perfectly under the table.Next came all the sewing stuff, the ironing board and of course some cute accessories! So that is my Cutting Table Makeover.
I have plenty of storage for all of my projects. It is the perfect height to stand at to do all of my cutting. Now I am going to be on the hunt for a table or stand for my sewing machine!! Any suggestions?
Thanks for Visiting…Hope you have a Wonderful Day!
How is everyone doing with the 35 day conference reading challenge? We are almost done and it has been wonderful for me. I missed most of conference last Oct. because that is right when my husband was sick! So now I am loving all the messages that I missed out on!
Beautiful work! Although your sewing room looks incredibly empty, ;)
Julie, You are right. This is a new craft room that I am just getting set up with! I will have it filled up in no time. :)
Wow! Now that’s a space for your talented creativity! Can’t wait for your future projects to be shared!
Marcia, Thank you for taking the time to write your kind comment! I am excited to do many more projects in this new space! :)
I have thoroughly enjoyed studying each one. I hit and missed the last challenge, ‘no pressure’. It worked, this challenge I have not missed a talk!!! So rewarding! I wrote a half page (limited myself, because I am wordy) of the parts that impressed me. It helped me focus. I shared with my Visiting Sisters, and my Daughters. It was good to know they tried it,also. Thank you for sharing the gospel and encouragement for others to do the same.
Gwen, Thank you for sharing your thoughts today. I am glad that you have enjoyed this challenge as much as I have. I think that it is wonderful that you have shared it with your visiting sisters and your daughters. You are a wonderful example to all. Hope you have a wonderful day. Enjoy this next conference that is coming right up!
