Discover a New Hobby-Lettering!
It is something that I have just started learning…
and I am really loving it. This was printed on a dishtowel, so I decided that I would try to letter it! Ha Ha!
As you can see, I am a beginning beginner! But it is fun!
Lettering does not require a lot of materials to get started. It does however, require a lot of practice!
I am just barely getting started and I find that it is quite relaxing and enjoyable to just doodle and draw my letters!
There are different techniques to learn, but all that I have read, say lettering is just practice, practice, practice! All you need to get started is a pencil and a notepad! You can add pens and colored pencils and watercolors later, but to get started you need very little! One of the free classes that I found online is from CreativeLei.
It is called #31Days to #LoveYourLettering
Click on the link above to check it out!
That is where I learned about graph composition books!
They are really a game changer! In this class she goes through all different kinds of letters and how to change them up just a bit for a whole new style!
Would you like to learn how to do lettering?
This class is a a great way to get started! I am not all the way done with the class, but I love it so much I wanted to share it with you! There are all kinds of drills and exercises for you to do.
And each lesson comes with a full video tutorial! They help so much and it is so fun to see how easy Lei makes it look!
Now that a lot of the kids are going back to school, it is time for you to start a New Hobby-Lettering!
They say that lettering is not how good your handwriting is…lettering is the art of DRAWING letters!
There are all kinds of lettering books out there and I have a few of them, but I would suggest that if you would like to try your hand at lettering that you just google some free practice pages or classes to see how you like it!
So that is my New Hobby-Lettering.
Hope you are enjoying these last days of summer!
This is such a great idea, I have always been unhappy with my handwriting but really appreciate people that have pretty handwriting. I have a friend that I hire to do all my lettering at school, she is amazing! But this is a great challenge that I’m sure would bring a lot of satisfaction. Thanks for sharing!
Kristine, I hope you get a chance to try it! It is a fun relaxing hobby and for me there is no pressure because I just use it to make drawings in my planner…and I just like to practice it! :)
