America…Land that I love!
I got a couple of Americana patterns on our Arizona trip last March and I just got them completed! (I have an addiction weakness for anything Americana) This first project is a long pillow that I absolutely adore! The other one is a table quilt that I will show you on Friday! Both of the patterns that I used are from Kimberbell DesignsThese long pillows are called “bench Pillow-of-the month” and this one is titled “America…Land that I Love.
I followed the pattern pretty close, except for the colors. I wanted more navy, dark red and tan colors instead of the traditional red, white and blue! This pattern was pretty easy to do, I did the quilt and the pillow together and some of the appliques got a little too detailed for me. I got tired of machine appliqueing. But of course, now that they are done…I love them! :)Here is a close-up of the details. The banner, America, and stars were machine appliqued. “Land that I love” and the star tails were hand stitched. The pinwheels and ric-rac were added after I had quilted it.I love all the fun little details!
I think that this pillow looks so cute outside, in my courtyard, but it is not covered and the weather would ruin this real quick so I put it out here to take pictures, but…This is where it is going to live inside my house. On the couch with my Americana pillow I made last year from a tote bag!
As I said at the top of this post, I am kind of an Americana nut and I love those colors and I love all kinds of quilts and pillows. I just can’t seem to get enough! In fact my best friend and I are going on a retreat to make…yet another Americana quilt! :) All this love from a girl that was born in Canada! I have long since gotten my American citizenship, but I am a Canadian born girl! Go figure!
Let’s wave the good old red, white and blue today and get a great start to the summer with some patriotic pride!
Very beautiful.
