Spring Painted Vases and Printable Tags!

This a post that I posted a couple of weeks ago over at I Should Be Mopping the Floor, but wanted to share it with you here!

Well, I think that it is officially Spring here.  Well, maybe not officially, but it is snowing or raining one day and beautiful sunshine the next, so isn’t that the definition of spring? I love when the flowers start popping out of the ground and there is hope of the warmer weather coming.  But, sometimes I just cannot wait for it to come, so I decided to bring it in a little bit earlier with my Spring in a bottle(s)!

These mason jars and tags are super easy to make and they make a great display for your kitchen, an entry way, a party, or for a gift for someone special!

All you have to do is pour some acrylic paint into the bottom of a glass jar.  Put the lid on and shake it until the inside of the jar is completely covered.  Then take the lid off and turn the jar upside down to let the paint dry.  (I changed the paper a couple of times while the paint was still dripping.)  Let them dry overnight.

While they are drying, you could print your tags and cut them out and get them all ready to go.

To print these tags, simply right click over the image and go to “save image as” then save in a folder, or you can simply right click over the image and go to “copy image”, then open your favorite program like Word or Presentations and right click again and go to “paste”.  These tags are formatted to fit an 8.5 x 11 page, so you can just print your own.

Punch a hole in the circle at the top and tie onto the jars with baker’s twine, ribbon, jute, or anything cute that you might have, because my motto is, that ribbon just makes everything cuter! :)

So now you can wish someone a Happy Easter, Happy Spring…

Or just say “thank you!”

I was worried about my flowers being too bright with the pastel jars and tags, but I think that they ended up looking great together.  I simply bought a bouquet of flowers from Costco and split them up into the three jars.  If you are in need of some inexpensive gifts or decorations, these are the way to go!

*Just a side note*

The acrylic paint worked okay, but after awhile, I could see the paint starting to peel away from the jar.  I don’t know if it was from the preservatives in the flowers or just from being in the water.  Next time I will paint the outside of the jars.  If you want a glossy look, you could spray a varnish on them.  I have also spray painted the jars, just make sure that you do the outside, not the inside of the jar, because the chemicals in the spray paint will make your flowers die much more quickly!

So are you now ready to bring some of the beautiful “Spring” colors into your home?

  1. I have done this with Enamel Acrylic paint and have not had any issues with the paint peeling or coming off. Thank you for sharing your ideas and the printables. I really enjoy following you. Blessings!

  2. What a wonderful project. I love the colors you used. I pinned this on Pinterest. I have many mason jars laying around and this would be a great project to use with them. Thanks for sharing.

I found this post at the Tip Me Tuesday party. :-)
