My granddaughter helped me put out all of my summer decorations yesterday. It is so nice to have a little helper! :) She loves to do this and I love to have her help!
This is my front courtyard. I love having this big porch, it is shady in the afternoon and protected from the road! It is perfect for sitting! My big pots are just starting to bloom, they will have pinks and yellows and white this year. My hanging planter on the left is the one my sister made for me!
This chair sits just to the right at the bottom of the stairs. I found this chair a few years ago at a yard sale and I have loved putting it out every summer. I always plant this chair in red, white and blue flowers and add a flag or two! The red petunias are blooming now, but they were not showing too much in this picture. This flower carts sits right by my front door and it gets decorated for every holiday! I have had this cart for many years and it is one of my favorite finds for my yard! This sits on the other side of my front door. I need to find something to sit on top of this stand, but everything I put on there does not look right! Does anyone have any suggestions??
This is the bench that is on the side of the courtyard, where we can sit and visit for a spell! I made some new pillows and I love the burst of color that they add!I made this fun summer sign, but I am not in love with the glossy varnish! I had to do several coats because I knew that it would be out in the weather. If I had to do it over again, I would use matte varnish! Oh well, you live and learn! I love the summer sayings and the colors, so I will just have to live with the glossiness!
And last but not least, is my wheelbarrow! This sits behind the half wall on the inside of the courtyard. It just finishes this all the way around I am surrounded with flowers and summery goodness! I love it!
Summer is here in Utah! The kids are out of school and so today I took a couple of my grandkids that I tend and we went and learned how to ride bikes! It was so fun and they had such a fun time that they did not want to quit, even though it was getting hot! What fun things do you do in the summer? I need to make a summer bucket list and would love to hear some of your suggestions!
Love this so much! I want to go start on my front porch today!
Your porch is so pretty. Need to step back and take a pic of house. It looks lovely. On top of the stand, maybe a topiary in a pot. Kind of a small spiral one if you know what I’m talking about. Also, can you not do a coat or two of matte varnish to take away some of the shine on your sign? Just an idea. I dont do enough of that kind of thing to know.
Karen, thank you so much for your great comment! I have considered a topiary on my stand, but it would just looks too tall on the top of the stand there, maybe I could find a short squatty one though. I like the idea of some kind of plant on the top. I also like your suggestion on spraying a coat of matte varnish over the glossy. I am definitely going to have to try that! Thank you again for taking the time to write, I really appreciate both of your suggestions!
Everything looks so lovely! I would add a large pot of trailing sweet potato vine to set on your black stand. I think the bright green vine would show nicely against the brick of your home and with all your 4th of July decorations. It’s summer in Colorful Colorado as well and I’m enjoying planting flowers, decorating for the season and spending time with my family on our front porch and back patio!
Nancy, I love your idea of the trailing sweet potato vine! I think that I am going to go look for some tomorrow and try that out! :) Thank you so much! Don’t you love summertime and being able to be outside and enjoy the fresh air and beautiful scenery around you!
Beautiful :)
Brenda, thank you so much for your kind comment! I love hearing from you and appreciate your taking the time to write! Have a happy day!
Rita,
Your porch looks wonderful!
I agree with everyone, your porch looks so beautiful! How about putting a bird cage with a small potted flower inside or a bird! I have a bird cage that I put a small nest with artificial eggs inside it. ;-)
Susan, thank you so much for your comment. I think that a bird cage would be beautiful! I ended up planting a pot with sweet potato vines in it, but I think that the birdcage idea will be perfect for the fall! I could put fall leaves in with the nest and that would be so pretty! Thanks so much for your suggestion, I love that idea! Have a happy day!
I love your blog. It helps me every month for visiting teaching. Your ideal are fabulous I love all your cards, quotes etc. Thank you for sharing.
