We celebrated a couple of birthdays last night and they were both of the male species so we had grilled hamburgers, potato salad, baked beans and chips in their honor and then I made these wonderful Heavenly Filled Strawberries for those of us of the female species! Although the male species ate just as many if not more than the female. Not that I was counting! :)
I saw fresh strawberries at the store yesterday and they just looked so good to my poor fresh fruit deprived soul that I bought them and I knew immediately what I wanted to do with them! I love this recipe because their is no guilt involved in eating them! If you are a Weight Watchers person then you will love these because they are zero points! It doesn’t get any better than this folks!
I found this recipe from Taste of Home last summer and I was able to find it so easy because I got all my recipes organized!
So does anyone want to make Heavenly Filled Strawberries?
Heavenly Filled Strawberries- (Recipe adapted from Taste of Home)
Ingredients:
1 pound fresh strawberries
1 package (8 ounce) fat free cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup confectioners’ sugar
1/4 teaspoon almond extract
Grated Chocolate
Directions:
1. Remove stems from strawberries; cut a deep “X” in the tip of each berry. Gently spread the berries open.
2. In a small bowl, beat the cream cheese, confectioners’ sugar and extract until light and fluffy. Pipe or spoon about 2 teaspoons into each berry; sprinkle with chocolate. Chill until serving. Yield: about 3 dozen
(I used the no mess frosting method to pipe the filling in and cleanup was a breeze!)
These are a great tasting, good for you treat! They would be fun for Super Bowl Day this Sunday, for a pretty Valentines dinner, or just a great snack for fruit lovers! If you can find some good strawberries anywhere, you might want to try these!
