Crispie Caramel Marshmallow Treats

This is one of the treats that we had at our craft retreat.  It is so stinkin good and you will not be able to eat just one.  Trust Me!  You will definitely want to give this recipe a try, because who can resist a great Rice Crispy Treat?  They are easy to make and with the yummy caramel and marshmallow filling, they are one treat that you will find yourself making time and time again! This recipe comes from my friend Leslie.  My taste buds thank her, but my waistline does not! :)

Krispie Caramel Marshmellow Treats

Make one batch of Rice Crispie Treats:
3 tablespoons margarine or butter
1 package (10 oz, about 40 regular marshmallows or 4 cups miniature marshmallows)
6 cups crisped rice cereal
1.  Melt margarine in large saucepan over low heat.  Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted.  Remove from heat.
2.  Add crisped rice cereal. Stir until well coated.
3. Using buttered spatula or waxed paper, press mixture evenly into 9 x 13 pan coated with cooking spray. ( I put mine in a 10 x 15 pan)
Cover rice crispies with miniature marshmallows-about 2 cups.
In a microwave safe bowl, mix:
1/2 cup butter
1 can (14 oz.) sweetened condensed milk
1 pkg (12-14 oz) caramel squares unwrapped ( I used Peters bulk caramel)
Melt in microwave and mix until caramel mixture is smooth. I microwaved it at 50% power in 1 minute increments.  Stir until smooth.
Pour over marshmallows.
Make a 2nd batch of Rice Crispie Treats.
Spread over the top of the caramel layer.  Cut into squares and enjoy! My caramel kind of sunk to the bottom, but they still tasted soo good!  (You may want to let the 1st batch of rice crispies cool a bit before you add the marshmallows and caramel layers to prevent this.)

Have a great weekend everyone!  Love Ya!

  1. I love your blog!!! I can’t wait to make this with my three kiddos. Too bad I have to wait to go grocery shopping tomorrow. :)

  2. Hi Rita —

Just added a couple of your recipes to my Pinterest page — included a link to your site. Not stealing, just pointing my friends toward your page. Hope that is okay.
