Ruffled Halloween Dishtowels

I love to decorate my kitchen for the holidays, because that is where we spend so much time!

So I thought that these ruffled dish towels would be just the thing that I needed to make my kitchen a little more festive for Halloween. To make these, you will need 5 inches x the width of the fabric.  You will need 3 different fabrics.  I bought these dishtowels, but you could also make your own if you want to.  Fold your fabric strips in half  and press. They will now be 2.5 inches wide.  Gather the raw edges to fit the width of the the dishtowel and stitch to front of dishtowel, starting with the bottom ruffle.  I then stitched on both sides of a piece of grosgrain ribbon to cover the raw seam.  Repeat for the other two ruffles.                   Here they are in my kitchen along with my candy jars.  Now my kitchen is beginning to look a lot like Halloween!I will probably pair them with a solid black dishtowel, so that I can trade them out to wash them, and yes, I am going to use them!  Why make them if you are not going to use them, right? What do you do to decorate for Halloween?

Have a great day!  Love ya!

  1. Love these – I crochet better than I sew – but I’ve got some Halloween themed yarn left from another project. Now I know what to do with those leftovers! Another project to add to my list.

    1. Roberta, thanks for taking the time to comment. I love the idea of doing a crocheted ruffle on the dishtowel! Thanks for sharing your idea!
