Spectacular Summer Quilt

I have not done a quilt in quite awhile, but here is my Spectacular Summer Quilt!

This quilt is all cotton fabrics and it is all hand appliqued.  I bought the kit from Shabby Fabric and all of the applique pieces were laser cut outs.  So  all I had to do is iron everything in place and the hand stitch around each piece!

It took me awhile to do all of the stitching, but it was something that I could do while I was watching TV or just relaxing in the evenings! Here is a close-up of some of the appliques.

This quilt was actually a reward for myself for reaching a goal that I had set at WW!  Our leader said to think of a reward that we would like…and then set a goal that we would like to meet to receive that reward.   My goal was to loose 25 lbs!

My husband actually thought that it was funny that I was putting a restriction on my quilt buying!!! :)  But it worked, so I am a happy camper!I had enough leftover squares from the prairie points border that I could make a fun patchwork on the back of the quilt!  Love it when that happens!Adding a label to the back of a quilt is the perfect way to document it.  And a ladybug adds just the perfect amount of cuteness! Here is a picture of the quilt laid out flat.  You can see the prairie points border all the way around the quilt.  It just adds such a cute element to this bright Spectacular Summer Quilt! So this is my Spectacular Summer Quilt!  It is hanging in my front foyer, so that it welcomes any who may come to visit!

There is  a fun pillow that I am just finishing up that is perfect to go with this quilt.  I will post in a few days as soon as I get it done!

So many projects…so little time.

I feel like I am starting to get back into a groove of doing projects and it feels good to be creating again!

Thanks for visiting…Have a Spectacular Day!

  4. Dear Rita –
I believe you’ve really magnified your talents for the benefit of others – myself included!
I can neither quilt (never had the experience) or make the fabulous handouts you prepare for us to share with our ministering assignments. Nonetheless, I’m able to share because of YOU!
    Thank you!
