Nutella No Bake Cookies

I remember when I was a young girl, coming home from school and making No Bake Cookies.  I always thought that they were the best treat ever!  I used to mix in all kinds of things like coconut, nuts, raisins, etc. whatever my mom had in the cupboard at the time.  But not once, ever, did I think to put in Nutella!  Well, I saw this idea out there somewhere in blog land and had to give it a try.  I was pleasantly pleased with this add-in item!  The hazelnut flavor is kind of subtle, but it is there.  My husband thinks that these are good for you with the oatmeal and all and I just let him think that!

This is a great treat for summer because you do not have to heat up your oven.  It is also a great beginning recipe for kids to make and learn in the kitchen.  So does anyone out there want to make Nutella No Bake Cookies?

2 cups sugar

1/2 cup butter

1/4 cup cocoa

1/2 cup milk

1/2 cup Nutella

1 teaspoon vanilla

3 cups quick rolled oats

Optional add-ins: nuts, raisins, coconut, etc.

(You can also add 1/2 cup peanut butter in place of the Nutella for another great taste!)

In medium saucepan, combine sugar, butter, cocoa and milk. Cook over medium heat to a boil and boil for 1 minute.  Remove from heat and stir in Nutella and vanilla.  Stir until Nutella is melted.  Stir in the oats (and any other add-ins that you like) and quickly drop by spoonfuls onto wax paper.  Allow to harden and enjoy!

Oh so Good!

I found these gift boxes on clearance at one of the craft stores and look at how fun they make a simple cookie look!

Tie it up with some ribbon and this is a great gift for Father’s Day!
