We had another wonderful baptism in our family last weekend and so now I can show you Jake’s Baptism Quilt!
This was for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.Making this quilt is quite easy to do and I am getting it down to a science! You can find the directions here, here and here.
I bought one-third yard of each of 6 different minky fabrics. Make sure they are 60″ wide fabrics.
These blocks were cut 9.5 x 9.5″.
The blocks are sewn with 5 across and 6 down.
There is a local lady that does all of my machine embroidery for me. It is fun to add that personal touch.
Then all you do is sew the blocks together. The back is the same navy blue minky as some of the squares. I quilted it with navy blue swirls and stars.Love this picture at the church with his parents and us!He is such a fun loving boy and seems to always have that darling smile on his face. We love you Jake and we are proud of the young man that you are becoming!
After the baptism we went to Jake’s house for a luncheon and look how beautiful it was!!!My DIL had this beautiful Charcuterie Board display waiting for us!! She had it catered and I could not believe how wonderful it was. It was almost too pretty to eat…almost!Look at all of the beautiful details!!!Amazing!I think that Jake liked his Baptism Quilt! His favorite colors are blue and orange, and this quilt will match his bedroom! It was a fun day and I am so glad that my dad could be a part of it!! I love when we get to have fun family gatherings and all the cousins get together to play and catch up with one another!
So that is Jake’s Baptism Quilt.
We have a few more to go and that makes me very happy!
On another note…I have been bottling peaches like a crazy woman! We did some for my dad, the kids and for myself. In all, we bottled the equivalence of 100 quarts of peaches, 8 batches of peach jam and a couple of gallons of frozen peach slices! All off of one peach tree!!!
Whew…so glad that is done! This is only a small portion!
Have any of you been doing any bottling? I probably should do some spaghetti sauce, but not sure it it will really happen this year!

Do you use a batting on the minky quilts?
Dareth, Yes, I use a thin batting like warm and natural. I have heard of other people not using any batting, but I have never tried it.
