Last month when my husband and I were in Arizona at the baseball park, we bought a bag of kettle corn. It was so good with the sweet and salty and I have been craving it again. So I got online and found a recipe (I cannot remember where this recipe came from, so I cannot give credit where credit is due!) There are several recipes and they are all very similar. I was very pleasantly surprised to find out how easy it is to make and it only has 4 ingredients! All of which I have on hand!
- 1/4 cup canola oil
- 1/2 cup white popcorn kernels
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon coarse salt
- In a large pot with a tight fitting lid, heat the oil over medium-high heat. Add the popcorn. When the oil sizzles, sprinkle the sugar over the kernels. Cover and shake the pan until the popping slows down, about 3 minutes. Remove from heat pour into a large bowl. Toss with the salt and stir. Serve warm. (although it is delicious for the next day or two, if it last that long!)
My husband and I are BIG popcorn lovers and we love the white popcorn better than the yellow. You could use yellow popcorn and I am sure it would taste great too! Popcorn is a great treat and is good for you with all of the fiber! (Of course the butter I melt on it, for regular popcorn, is not so great for you, but nonetheless it is a great snack!)Do you need a sweet and salty treat that is really pretty good for you? This is the recipe to try! It is super easy and the leftovers are as good as the fresh.
If I ever stop making your salted caramel crispy treats, I might try this. LOL
Bev, you need to give these a try…they are so easy to make and are pretty good for you!
