Give Thanks Projects

Today I have some of the projects from our craft retreat earlier this fall.  We did some fun projects and these are the ones that were done for Autumn and Thanksgiving.  I have tons of decorations for Halloween and not so many for Thanksgiving, so I was glad to be able to make these that are for the Thanksgiving season.  I think that sometimes we just overlook Thanksgiving and our minds just go straight to Christmas.  I know I tend to do that, but I love that fact that we have a holiday to show our Thanks!  We all need to look around us at all the blessings that we have and stop and acknowledge them!  So, here are a couple of projects that will help you to remember to “Give Thanks!”

These are all simple projects that are inexpensive to make, so that is a double bonus if you want to make your own!

The “Attitude of Gratitude” is a simple charger from Hobby Lobby.  I love the bronze color!  Simply make a vinyl saying that will fit on the charger and put it on the charger and stand it up with a plate stand!   My friend, Sharee,  made these and I do not have the file for it, but you could make up your own pretty easily!

These “Give Thanks” pillows are super easy to make!  I simply made an envelope pillow cover out of a linen fabric for the cover. Make your own pillow form just the size that you need, the directions are here.   Then put a piece of wax paper inside the pillow to protect the back when you are stenciling the front. Next cut a vinyl out for this and used the background for a stencil.  I pulled the letters out and threw them away and used the cutout for the stencil.  Place the stencil where you want it to be and stencil with acrylic paint.  Let it dry, then spray paint with glitter paint. Be sure you cover the rest of the pillow before spray painting the glitter, so it does not get on the pillow, only where the stencil is. We used a burnt orange color for these.  Let all of the paint dry well, then peel off the vinyl “stencil”.  The glitter really makes the lettering “pop”!  You can tie a big bow on these or leave them plain, either way they are pretty cute!

Here is a pdf file of the Give thanks lettering, if you know how to convert it for your cutter, you can make your own stencil.

The Autumn banner, is simply made with chipboard, paint and paper.  Cut out your letters, pennants, and any embellishments that you want to put on them.  Punch holes at the top on each side and tie together with ribbon!

So here are a few decorations that you can make to show your gratitude!  They are all simple and inexpensive, so you can also be grateful for that, right?  :)

I hope that during this month especially that we can have a grateful heart and recognize all that we do have and the many blessings that we enjoy.  All we have to do is look around us, just a little bit and we will find that we truly are a blessed people and and a blessed nation!

Thanks for visiting today!  I am truly Grateful,  Love Ya!
