File Folder Memory Books

I don’t know if many of you know that I used to own a scrapbook store called “Forget Me Not Scrapbooking Co.”  I closed my shop several years ago and I have not really done much scrapbooking since then.  But then, my children are all married and out of the house, so I don’t have as many events to scrapbook any more!    I love to do my “Smash journal” and I love all scrapbooking products and use them for all kinds of paper crafting projects but just have not done much in the way of scrapbooks.

A couple of weeks ago our local Archiver’s was hosting a Heidi Swapp File folder class and so I decided to take it just for fun!   Boy was that a mistake, (but a good mistake!)  I am hooked on making these little mini books and I love the look of these sweet things!

I made these for gifts and I can hardly wait for an excuse to make more of these!  I have several ideas in mind, including some for Father’s Day, baby books, and they make great birthday gifts or would be perfect for a wedding gift!

These are the books that I made in the Archiver’s class.  One is just a file folder with several moveable pages inside!  I have already filled it with pictures and it will be so fun to give to someone who works at a desk.  Won’t this be a fun accent on her desk!

Here are the pages inside one of my books:

This is the front page and it opens up to the right.  The tag at the front also is a lift-up flap!

This page has some fun things going on with the scalloped border on the tag and the shaped page.

This next page has this cute banner that was pre-made.  I cut part of it apart and used it in another book.  I love the little flag banner in the top corner!  I distressed most of the edges with ink to give it a little bit more shabby look.

This set of pages has the three little pages in front of the larger page.  These are perfect for smaller pictures or for some journaling.  I love that you can hide your journaling but yet you can see that it is there!

On this last page, I put a lift up card, again it is great for journaling or hiding a fun little picture or special item!  I love that these page are very interactive!

So this is my first hand at these little File folder memory albums.  I love making them so much that I went and invested in a “Cinch” machine to bind them with!  I have used my cinch machine for so many things already!  I think that I will get good use out of it!  I will show you pictures of the Father’s Day books when I get them done.  I also want to make some of these file folder books  just to do small mini albums for special events.

Can you think of anyone that might like one of these fun little mini File folder Albums?  If you like to scrapbook, you will love making these little books, they are so fun and they do not take a ton of time!

Have a great weekend everyone and go out and make some fun memories!  You may even want to scrapbook those memories!  :)

Love Ya!

  1. It looks at though you have somehow made the Cinch binding almost invisible would you do a tutorial on how to do this as I love my Cinch but sometimes wich the coil was hidden.

    Thanks,

    Megan

  2. Wow, these are great! This kind of interactive memory book has been on my to do list for awhile, but I think you’ve just inspired me to get one started!

    1. What a great one year anniversary gift! You are a great friend! Thanks for taking the time to comment and for your support! Good luck with your friend’s book!

  3. Hey Rita! I LOVE your file folder books! They’re SO cute! If you decide to teach a class or something PLEASE let me know. I would love to make some.

  4. Hi Rita, Love your folders! Are your binding rings actually inside one of the folders or are they seen from the back only. Heidi did another tutorial I found on YouTube from 11/4/2013 on mini folders that she did differently. Your help is greatly appreciated!!
