Celebrate Summer with Lucky Leaf

I was contacted by a company called “Lucky Leaf” and asked if I would like a free sample of their products and then in turn would I write a post about it.  I was actually quite excited about it when I found out that it involved food!  So a few days later I received a fun package in the mail and I was excited to try out some of their great recipes!

The first recipe that I tried out was the frozen pie pops, who would of thought to make a Popsicle with canned pie filling?  Not me, but  I tried this recipe and they were delicious and so full of flavor.   I love the cute pop mold that they sent, the handle on the top looks like a tongue sticking out ready to lick the Popsicle!  As you can see a couple of my grand kids did the kid-taste test and it looks like they passed, they loved them and I loved how quick and easy they were to make.

Breakfast In a Bar

This post brought to you by Quaker Oats. All opinions are 100% mine.

Have you tried the NEW Quaker Soft Baked Bars?  I had the opportunity to try these and I have to admit that they are pretty darn good!  But they aren’t just tasty, the thing that I liked even better is that they are great for you.  They only have 140 calories but 5 grams of fiber!  They also are a good source of protein and 5- B vitamins.  They come in two flavors: Cinnamon  Pecan Bread and Banana Nut Bread.wholesome food  Quaker Soft Baked Bar

I tried the Cinnamon Pecan Bread and I know of a couple of my grandkids that are going to love these and I will feel good about giving them one!  I warmed it up in the microwave  for 10 seconds and it was soft and warm just like a real cinnamon roll coming out of the oven! Gardening Time!

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Scotts® for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

I am really excited to try the new Miracle-GrExpand ‘n Gro™  Concentrated Planting Mix.  I recently went on a vacation and when I got home, much to my dismay, a couple of my potted plants had died. If I had had this mix,( that retains up to 50 % more moisture), my plants would have been just fine.  If I use this soil, I won’t have to worry when I am gone for several days at a time. You also only have to fill your pots part way with this soil and then add water and it expands 3 times so it saves money on potting soil. I plant lots of pots of flowers outside in the summer, so it will be great to save on the potting soil and not have to water them quite so often!

Expand ‘n Gro™

I also want to try this mix in my garden because I have a little bit of clay in the soil and by adding this mix it will really help to add mulch and nutrients to the soil and the benefits can last for several years. Plus it will feed my plants for up to 6 months helping them to grow up to 3 times bigger, producing more fruits and veggies!  It is an easy way to prep my garden for the spring and summer growing seasons.

So let’s all get out there and start growing!

Spring has Sprung!

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Scotts® for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

I love spring and  the fact that I can get outside in the sunshine and start digging around in my yard!  One of the first things that I usually want to give attention to is my lawn, because I always want the ugly brown to start turning green.  I am quite excited about the Scotts ® Snap® Spreader System because all the work is done for me!  There is no mess, no measuring, no big heavy bags to cut and pour, no spilling and no waste! It also has a unique Edge Guard feature that keeps the product where I want it…on the lawn!  It doesn’t get any better than that!  And I love that I can do it all by my independent little self!  It really is a fool proof way to feed your lawn and there is no hassle in doing it!  It saves me time and money because it is so quick and efficient.  I like that there is no waste, I can simply store any leftover for the next feeding!

Check out this great system and see how quick and easy it really is to use, I think that you will be surprised. Scotts® Snap® Spreader System    Then “like” Snap Perks on Facebook and check out the great promotions and contests while you are there. Snap perks on Facebook

The Wood Connection!

The Wood Connection has now come to Utah County and I am so excited!  I have been going to the South Salt Lake Store for years and have loved it.  I started going way back when I did a lot of tole painting, so that was a LOT of years ago!  This store has tons of wood cutouts that you can take home and paint or decorate any way that you want to fit your own decor.

Shamrock Cupcakes!

I made these cupcakes for Sunday dinner and they are one of the kids favorite flavors!  I think that they all like mint, so these were a big hit.  I made a shamrock shake to go with these but I did not get any pictures of the shakes.  You will just have to use your imagination for them.  I just made a vanilla shake and put in mint extract and green food coloring.  Then we put whipped cream on the top and green sprinkles.  So fun!

To make the cupcakes I put 3 different recipes together!  So now I have one new recipe.

So let’s make some shamrock cupcakes! Continue reading

Prescription Fulfillment Issues

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Walgreens for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

My husband and I were just recently made aware of a situation that is going on with some of our pharmacy providers and wanted to pass this information, that could be important, to you and your family.

Express Scripts is a pharmacy provider for some health insurance policies.  You can find your provider by looking on the back of your insurance card.  For instance, our pharmacy provider for our insurance is Caremark.

Express Scripts has elected as of Dec 31st 2011, to break their relationship with Walgreens Pharmacy and the consumer is the one who loses when the pharmacy providers put  their profits ahead of our convenience and safety.  Take a look at this link: Walgreens and Express Script

Walgreens offers more 24-hour and drive-thru pharmacies than any other pharmacy in the country.  Obviously anyone who has Express Scripts as their pharmacy provider has just had their options considerably limited for the fulfillment of their prescriptions.  It appears that some pharmacy providers are making more profit from mail order than letting you go to your local pharmacy!

The problem with mail orders is pretty obvious if you need your prescription at 2 in the morning, on a major holiday, or just in an emergency that can’t wait.  For instance, two years ago on Christmas Day, our daughter was having some pretty major difficulties after having given birth a few days earlier, and was in desperate need of a prescription.  Luckily for us, Walgreens in a town fairly close to us was open on Christmas day and we were able to get her the relief that she so urgently was in need of.

Our experience with mail order pharmacy prescriptions has been mixed.   For instance on one occasion,we had an order that we still had not received after two weeks, it then became our responsibility to contact the provider and they ended up sending out the order twice, and we also got billed twice!  It then became our responsibility again to get all the billing and shipping straightened out. Not the best experience.

If any other providers follow suit it could become a problem with our availability to 24 hour, local and personal pharmacy service!

Walgreens is trying to minimize the disruption to Express Scripts clients by offering a special discount on annual membership for its Prescription Savings Club.  An individual can join during a special January promotion for only $5 or $10 for a family membership, and receive savings Walgreens Prescription Savings Club

Don’t let the middleman pharmacy provider take away our choices!
