Headboard Makeover

Today I have a mini renovation to our master bedroom…I finally finished my Headboard Makeover! When I made my new bedspread, I knew that I needed to refinish the headboard/foot board.  So they would match the nightstands that I refinished earlier. This is what they looked like before I refinished them.

They were this beautiful oak color which was perfect many years ago!  But, I wanted to lighten them up and give them a beautiful distressed look!  The quality of these wood pieces were exceptional, so I did not just want to give them away.

Don’t you just love the new look?It is a new lighter, fresher, cleaner look!  And it looks wonderful with my new Courtship quilt!

The paint that I used is a mix of antique white and white Annie Sloan paint.  Then a dark walnut stain was used on the side rails, that match the top of the nightstands!

The two tone colors are a great compliment to the oak trim that in already in my house!

You can distress the edges by sanding off as much or as little paint as you like.  Then finish it off with a good wood wax and you are done!

My master bedroom has a lot of windows that let in all the natural light and make it a very inviting room! The afternoon sun filtering in through all the trees in the back yard is my favorite time of day!In the winters, here in Utah, we love the fireplace in our bedroom.  It is just so warm and cozy!

So, that is my mini master renovation and Headboard Makeover! Charm

I am loving my quilt in our bedroom and my husband really loves it because of the darker colors.  With all the natural light, I can get away with a little bit darker colors!

I am working on another quilt from the Missouri Star Quilt Company.  The Pattern is called Charm Squares on Point.  It will be a fun picnic, patriotic quilt just in time for the 4th of July!

Thanks for visiting…Hope you have a wonderful day!

    1. Marcia, I am still debating on whether to do the fireplace mantel or not. I am not sure if the heat would just make the paint peel? I will have to do a little more research. Do you know any tricks with that?
